Highly suspicious this isn't just a cash grab. Throw some HDR on it & hope for the best? I'd have more faith if it was Second Sight or Arrow releasing it. Much like Blair Witch there's not a lot to work with (in fact there's less) & they only managed to squeeze a bluray out of that.

I haven't seen it in ages but I remember it looking bad... video quality wise.
Hopefully it will be a somewhat proper upgrade (wish SS would do the restoration work)

''Dann Boyle shot the entire film using DV-based Canon XL1 cameras due to the "harshness" of the video. He believed that such rough-edged quality would help give the film a sense of grittiness and real-world plausibility that would benefit the overall narrative.''

Some is 8mm, most is Video PAL & the final scene was 35mm.

I had some fun filming "hilarious" martial art movie skits on Hi 8 tapes back in the 90s.
Class times.
Funny they were not

That original blu ray steelbook is a high bar to pass though.
Wish I had one. So my fingers are heavily crossed here.

Definitely seems pointless to have this movie in 4K. However, I sold my 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later discs a while back for good money figuring that they’d get released again with the new film getting coming out soon.

Just the discs?
Are the blu ray discs rare then or were second hand prices high due to hype for the new film?

Edit: I googled it. Films weren't available to watch on streaming.

wasnt it recorded on an iphone orso? wonder how much they can improve it with a 4k scan
Probably going to skip it for that exact reason and the original steel surely can’t be beat unless glossed.

I’ll prob just stick to picking up the new film in 4K and leave days and weeks to the original steels I own

I'm not expecting much from the video quality although HDR could be a good improvement if done well but super happy there'll be a not horrifically expensive steelbook available.

Better get selling the old steelbook!

Yes, evidently until recently you couldn't stream them. However, I must have bought them on iTunes before they were pulled because they've always been available for me on both Apple and Vudu/Fandango.

Genuinely interested to see how they're going to justify the 4k upgrade... Is there some technology out there that could honestly do something with the original digital image? :coffee:
