This will never look better, than a DVD, so Blu-ray was more than enough. They should've just re-released a BD.

Yup, I kept mine too.... But I won't lie, there was a minute in the middle of last year, where I was severely tempted to see how much they might've gone for on eBay.
I ebayed my 28 days/weeks later blu ray amaray set and it went for £50.00. Prices were definitely pushed up due to the announcement of the new movie.
Personally I'm not interested in continuing with the franchise. Some of the trailer for the new movie looked a little too Walking deadish for my liking...
28 days later has always looked s##t, no matter what format and was probably intended to look that way. Any attempt to clean up the Image quality for a 4K release would no doubt be frowned upon by many whilst an attempt to maintain the original image with a 4K upgrade with no retouching would probably be pointless as, picture quality wise, this is likely to be a bit of an unpolishable turd...
I'm accustomed to disappointment from modern Hollywood, feels like they're fighting their hardest to turn everyone away but I thought the 28 years later trailer was excellent. One of the rare examples that actually got me more excited to see a film so I'm optimistic. Maybe it'll be crap but I don't see a reason not to keep an open mind, same goes for the new 4k steelbook.

Yeah, and I meant this March — I've searched "sold" auctions on eBay.
That's for an opened pair. Sealed one might go for that on its own.
By the way, I have a local guy selling a sealed first one and an opened second one, if anyone's interested (for much less than Ebay prices obviously).

Even if it's not debossed – and it likely won't be – people who didn't sell their old steel for $200 yet won't be able to now.

I'd have gone with something more terrifying, but I can live with it. That said, f the OG steelbook price tanks then I'll just grab that instead - especially since 4K is pointless with this movie.

To be honest, the steelbook would look much better if the back had no art at all and was just a plain red background that matches the front. I'd prefer that over what they've chosen.
Back could have been red with the bus maybe greyed for reversed contrast. Ordered as I don't have this on disc anymore, but I did just redeem it on sony bravia core last week so that was 1 credit wasted.
I'm expecting it to look and sound as bad as previously, maybe a bit worse due to either dnr or the scan highlighting how bad the original source was recorded.
