I tested it by reapplying the rating sticker to a different area and the same happened... the varnish peeled off with ease. Tempted to strip it completely so I have a completely glossy steel lolHow thin and fragile must that matte layer be for a sticker to peel it off? Not that unusual on slips but aren't steelbook layers usually tougher?
Damn dude. I didn't have any issues. Bizarre.Love this one! Always wanted the original poster art on a steelbook, and I like how they also matched the back art. Only issue with my copy is both the rating stickers and blobs of glue have peeled away some of the matte varnish, revealing a glossy finish underneath... never experienced that before.

Yeah, hopefully just a one-off. I was probably due some bad luck with steels tbf, since it's been at least a couple weeks now since I last received one with any damageDamn dude. I didn't have any issues. Bizarre.
Sorry that's happened. That's so weird though.
I’ve had it happen before. Not often but I’ve seen it a couple of times. Obviously happens a lot on slips.Yeah, hopefully just a one-off. I was probably due some bad luck with steels tbf, since it's been at least a couple weeks now since I last received one with any damage![]()
Did you get replacements? I've emailed hmv with those photos, so fingers crossed!I’ve had it happen before. Not often but I’ve seen it a couple of times. Obviously happens a lot on slips.
And I think it was the same with spot gloss steels and it was the matte that was taken off leaving the gloss in view underneath
Yeah. But with HMV you just need to place another order. They don’t have a replacement programme. You literally send that one back for a refund and order a new oneDid you get replacements? I've emailed hmv with those photos, so fingers crossed!

Unfortunately it's not just the stickers that are the problem... it's the blobs of glue they insist on using to attach the j-cardI wonder if soaking the stickers in water to weaken the glue first would help?

Were you brave enough to try it?Tempted to strip it completely so I have a completely glossy steel
Lol nah, sent that crap right back (both times) for a refund. Fed up of accepting subpar steelbooks... Scanavo quality is constantly slipping these days, so think I might actually be done with the steel game YET AGAINWere you brave enough to try it?![]()
What about manta bro?Lol nah, sent that crap right back (both times) for a refund. Fed up of accepting subpar steelbooks... Scanavo quality is constantly slipping these days, so think I might actually be done with the steel game YET AGAIN
I still collect those to some extent, but even then I've cut (he says after picking up 3 of their OC's recentlyWhat about manta bro?
They do at least use scanavo china. Not sure if their QC is any better (although manta's will be vs WB), but their finish vs scanavo denmark certainly is.What about manta bro?
BTW had the same issue with the french Steel. And even though I knew they had these issues and was super carefully removing the J-Card with the gluey blob, it happened. Returned both because FMJ also had some dings.Lol nah, sent that crap right back (both times) for a refund. Fed up of accepting subpar steelbooks...
