Interesting. Yes, why no DC I wonder. Maybe that'll change. That's usually been the default cut since mid/late 90s.
See how this one plays out. Could be nice though. One of my all time favourites, this could be a nice addition to the blu ray steel.

I'm actually happy with it being the theatrical cut. I already have the gold coloured steelbook for the directors cut.

Hopefully the box art stays as is. The steelbook inside will hopefully match the outer case.

It will go nicely with my Amadeus collection which currently consists of...

Thorn-EMI UK rental VHS
Thorn-EMI UK rental Betamax
Warner first UK retail VHS
2-disc UK DVD
UK gold steelbook
Vinyl LP by Neville Marriner

And my pride and joy, original UK quad poster (framed).

It has been a crime that the film that won the Best Picture Oscar has not been seen in decades.
The "director's cut" did not win Best Picture.
Good to see the Original film finally getting its release.
(The same debacle happened with another Best Picture winner: Dance With Wolves The terrible Jim Wilson "producer's cut" was the only version available on Blu ray for about a decade plus. And this version, with a whopping 60 minutes of extra footage was not the Best Picture winner of 1990.)
When it comes to Best Picture winners- The Original film should always be the default.
I am a huge fan of both the films above- and thought the extended cuts did much more harm than good. (Most egregious- destroying pacing).
I am not against these cuts existing- but only if the original is always available.
Rumors of this getting a release have been in the wind for awhile now- glad to see it is finally coming. (one of the early rumors was that it was going to be criterion).
Being a UK edition, it would be a cherry on top if Fidelity in Motion did the encoding

Yes, all of that, only the complete opposite on everything!

WB Store has this up as releasing the week after Constantine.
February 24th 2025.

I thought with Constantine artwork dropping, we might get an update soon on Amadeus.
