Dear International Customers,

<Avengers: Infinity War> Steelbook release date has been postponed.
We apologize to everybody who is waiting for this release.
We found some steelbooks of scratches and defective during the inspection process.
We have been coordinating the additional supply schedule with Scanavo since November 12,
and we will notify it again as soon as the schedule is confirmed.

Thank you very much for your understanding.

Best regards.
Weetcollection.

Exactly, unacceptable to receive scratched steelbooks especially in premium editions...had a few bad experiences myself in the past and I honestly don't understand how they passed the quality control...

Simple. People seem to be under the impression that somebody inspects EVERY copy of a steelbook that comes off of the line.
Or every slipcase. This simply isn't the case. Like @Wreck mentioned in another thread they will do "spot checks" pick up random copies to see if there are any flaws. If they find many steelbooks are showing defects then that might be when they would take a look at every steelbook in that run to see if there is a problem.

That is likely what happened in this case. The whole run was probably flawed or enough to have to redo it.

One could argue that Scanovo should be the ones picking these issues up. Perhaps they need to do a scan of each steel and have software that examines them for flaws. Not sure if there’s existing software that can do this or can be modified to do this, but it sounds doable (famous last words).

and who would pick up the tab for the machines?
just i used to work at a place that had inspection machines at speed. plant cost £500,000 and about further £80,000 for the software to run it all.
and that was just for packaging pill boxes. then theres engineers and maintenance on top.

dont think it will happen not unless they want to spend that level of money.

Just hire a bunch of the nosiest, unemployed people at sub-minimum wage to inspect every single steelbook.

Probably is to some degree.

G&M make the product, Scanavo only markets it. Tho they are both intertwined with their Partnership. G&M also do cans for food and other things metal, etc. The machinery there is that expensive. How much of it is used for QC I have no idea.
