It’s not Saturday morning yet, but we’re celebrating the past and present of our favorite Batman cartoons with new prints for Batman: Caped Crusader and Batman: The Animated Series!
Batman: Caped Crusader is the newest Bruce Timm helmed animated Batman cartoon, and we’re completely captivated by the new series. Using a more noir approach, Batman: Caped Crusader reinvents the Batman mythos by funneling it through mid-20th century detective stories, but with some smart twists. Juan’s art was originally used to market the show, and depicts the new iteration of Batman amidst a fully noir-ified Gotham. As always, Juan’s lighting work is impeccable!
Tracing a line backwards from Caped Crusader, we’ve got Dave Perillo’s homage to Bruce Timm’s original Batman project, alongside Paul Dini, Batman: The Animated Series! B:TAS is still widely regarded as the definitive version of Batman and his world, and Dave’s piece shows us why–just look at all of those slick character designs!
