Some might be damaged returns but not all releases that come back as available are customer returns due to been damaged.

Yes it's possible to re shrink wrap as most main retailers have a shrink wrapping machine in a shop or a warehouse
This is required as some new releases stock from distributors don't always come shrink wrapped happens lot more than you might realize

A few members have previously mentioned in various threads they have received previously sold out SteelBooks in perfect condition so not all was returns due to been damaged
Some returns would be just unwanted item as in customer changed their mind and be sealed in perfect condition.

Inventory errors happen in retail and only fixed when a stock take is done (A stock take is when every item is scanned in a shop or a warehouse)
When stock takes are done varies with retailers some are done once a year or 2 or 4 times a year

Damaged returns are meant to be separated from normal customer returns and damaged be sent back to distributor but mistakes can happen

Some SteelBooks that come back available can be stock from Europe distributor made available to UK distributor
UK distributor then just attach UK jcard and different discs if required and then shrink wrap and ship to retailer

My Saving Private Ryan SteelBook was new and was in perfect condition and was not previously used opened SteelBook
Wish you would stop defending these clowns, there's no excuse for some of their shady behaviour. Thanks for the infodump though, which is completely wasted on me, as I know all that stuff, but I do wonder if you think other members on here are a bit dim, constantly going into huge replies, spelling out everything in great detail because they don't understand such things...?.:naughty:

On a separate note, mmm i think I know what a stock take is, having gone through many in my lifetime, manually counting 10's of thousands of loose electrical terminals, crimps, ferrules etc at an electrical wholesaler, stuck in the place until midnight, with only your hands, fading brain, a weighing/counting machine and a KFC supper, and then have the auditor go and check your hard work trying to find mistakes....of course they never found anything..:cigar:

What part of me and other members for releases that came back available who have received those SteelBooks not damaged do you not understand.

As I clearly mentioned not all are damaged returns when a SteelBook becomes back available so you should not make assumptions that all SteelBooks re-listed on any retailers websites will be damaged returns re shrink wrapped as some will be just normal customer returns still sealed in original shrink wrap that was not added back on system when originally returned and later found in a warehouse when doing a stock take and some will be stock made available from distributor

You was unlucky but others have received re-listed SteelBooks that showed suddenly up again on zavvi in perfect condition
As I previously mentioned damaged stock be it a SteelBook or other product should be separated from normal returns or existing stock and sent back to distributor and be destroyed or repaired if that possible or given away to staff but mistakes sometimes happens in lots of different retailers or distributors warehouses

Just ask for a full refund or replacement as you would normally do with any retailer if you get delivery of damaged goods

So....I did something silly, against my better judgement, this came back into stock on sunday on Zavvi, and I thought i'd give it a chance, as some well known member here mentioned these oneoffs steelbooks of various previous sold out titles coming back into stock arrived sealed and it was unscathed.

So I ordered this,.....and it arrived today, packaging was good, from warringtons HQ, but here lies another story. Upon checking the steelbook, I noticed something strange, the shrink wrap wasn't the usual TOC fare, this was a thicker shrinkwrap, the limited edition sticker was missing, and the top, bottom edges and back were buckled in, like heat damage had shrunk it a abit. But the most strange thing was the amount of detritus within the box itself, and there was a, what I presume is a long human hair trapped inside !!!

This was a clear re-seal job, and it's going back, will not be fooled again.

Ok. I’d be interested to see how they explain that one.
Well they never explained anything, they just straight up refunded in full, just said ;
Thank you for getting in touch to request a refund.
I do apologize for any inconvenience caused.
I have requested for a refund to be processed for you.

Odd thing as well, when I got the reply, and the refund confirmed, I opened it and found the bottom of the steelbook scratched and one of the coasters was damaged as well. F knows what went on with this, but that's Zavvis dubious practices for you...binned the lot apart from the discs and pin.

Well at least they didn’t argue with you about it. probably right about the re packaging and the re printing itself de valued the steelbook anyway. Some people would just put up and shut up but glad you didn’t.

Sometimes I feel, they knowingly send out damaged things to see if they can get away with it..., it's marked as such in their "system" - one complaint, instant refund, no discussion...,

It's like wastage in pubs & bars. A certain quota get damaged. Refund or replace. Still their profit margin is higher than a complete recall or HIGH END shipping packaging. It's hit and miss. Luck of the warehouse staff. Rolling the dice in a cheap casino
