Looks like someone’s come back from the pub, spied a load of leftover Spinach pasta bake on the side, scoffed it, immediately puked it up all over the place and then tried to wipe it up with their underpants.

Looks like they mixed up the art for one the PURGE movies.
This has no vibe of ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK at all.
I don't love it either. But in fairness, I think that it's actually a pretty admirable job considering how badly the artist was restricted. I read somewhere (might have been a social media post by the artist) that the artist wasn't allowed to depict any characters' resemblance or any buildings/landmarks in NYC.

Why bother, then? That's ridiculous.
"Hey, we want you to do a cover for a new steelbook of SHAFT IN AFRICA. Oh, and you can't use any images of Shaft or Africa."

I'm still wishing for either of these artworks to be on a steelbook:

Only without the 'Clapper schlong' tittle obviously...

What is the reasoning for restricting artists in that way? I can understand for likeness but landmarks? That’s crazy.

I guess landmark buildings have private owners, and they can sue... although there should be a law that if your construction is publicly visible, people should be able to draw it and sell images of it...

I’ll go back and see if I can find the artist’s post. I don’t recall that being explained, but I might have just forgotten.

Update:

"No World Trade Towers" - guess we won't ever see classic art again, and I should track down one of those mediabooks from above...

Don't understand this tbh.

Yet it was okay on the studio canal steel, and the SoL was fine for the first edition of the steel from Shout.
