I might consider nabbing this on sale and with a code but I don't wanna drop 150 quid on it atm. As much as I used to love this show.

To be fair while I have no interest in the show this is 4k and not too many classic shows (I can't think of any while I type) that have been given a 4k release.

I think you mean "extended cuts" that were included on the early DVDs.
The regular broadcast versions would be considered "uncut", as they are the original versions.
..and what is going on with this artwork?!!

Uncut this time??
When they originally remastered friends for a bluray release they never remastered the extra footage, So they would have to go back again and rescan all the old extra footage which they wont do.

These are the full broadcast versions still but still not The extended versions found on the previous DVD releases.

The blu rays were uncut. What they didn’t have was the extra video that was added for the DVDs. I can’t recall the exact reasoning, but I vaguely recall that it was something about how they created the extended cuts. I really wish they would’ve gone back and done it again, but I guess we should be happy we’re getting a 4k HDR version of this. I’m still waiting for them to go on sale. Not paying this much for a TV show that I’ll probably only watch once a decade.

I have the original dvd box set. Like the one that had actual doors with handles on. I know at least some of the longer episodes were still missing footage I saw on either tv or streaming. But I don't think there are even very many. The episode with the singer that replaces phoebe has a much longer version of the singer doing her song. I have never watched that episode on bluray so can't compare.

Weird, could've sworn the UK broadcast versions were actually cut, since certain scenes didn't quite make sense due to them missing minor plot points iirc.

Yeah, you're thinking of the cuts made for syndication, don't think they've ever made it to disc.
Ah ok, that would definitely explain it then, as I've only ever watched Friends when it aired on UK television (specifically when E4 was a thing), but assumed they were the same cuts also used in the blu-ray box set.

£12 a season is not too bad (HMV). Not sure why the UK artwork is different to the rest of the world. Not sure which I prefer either.

There was someone that made a HD Fan edit on Original trilogy . com of All 10 seasons of friends with the added extended scenes from the dvds, apart from the aspect ratio shift it was really well done.

I think we’re talking about different things. I’m referring to cuts they made specifically for the DVDs and the ones I had (have?) were not part of a box set. They were released around 2002 (at least the 5 seasons I bought were). On teh front of the box, it said, “With never before seen footage.”
