SteelBook listing has been removed from Target/Movies Unlimited/Deep Discount websites

Barnes & Noble have it listed but their listings sometimes not always accurate and get changed with different url a few times and that results in multiple listings

You guys think Manta (or some other reliable label, if there still is such thing) would/could do this title? I'd prefer premium (with subs for the entire content).

The problem with G - 1 is that it's Japanese, not Chinese or Korean. So that puts all premium retailers out of a guaranteed domestic release. It could happen, but I have my doubts tbh. Nova would be the most likely imo, given their track record.

Well rumors are there are zero extras. They just ported over 3 discs from Deluxe set so 4k of Minus 1, BLu of Minus 1 and then Blu of Minus Colour.
So if thats case I wont buy it as its a glorified bare bones release lol

I wouldn't really call that bare bones lol you've got an entire different version of the film as a bonus feature. That's about the biggest "feature" you can get tbh.

All the bonus features on the JP set didn't have english subs anyway, so they're utterly useless a distributor transcribes them (or you speak Japanese).

Well IMO at this price and special edition you need extras. The Japanese Edition had extras so was proper special edition but had no english subs for extras.
So I am waiting for a English territory release that will add subs for extras as thats what normally happens.
With this release it looks like Toho are releasing in US as well as Japan. So maybe they not letting a US company release it.
I will see if UK gets a 4k release.

The Target listing is still gone, but the other 2 pages have returned (though showing stock as currently unavailable).

The price is daft imo. 50 bucks plus tax and shipping (if you're international). Crazy. I'd want a bonus disc too lol I'm waiting for a UK release, which I'm confident will come tbh. Not saying we'll get a bonus disc either, but it'll cost me less than that will either way. I've got the JP steel anyway, so I'd be happy with a UK collectors edition 4K slipbox, that I can pop my steel in.

It’s likely the suggested retail price which is ALWAYS higher.

They probably jumped the gun listing these, anyway.

That digipack is starting to look nice again... :shy:
I used to get into the digipack thing until I fell into the black hole that is steelbook collecting. Pretty much ignored any and everything that wasn't steel for a long time. Then a really nice set of Romero's Dawn of the Dead came out, with all 4 versions of the film, and I just love that thing. Even tho the digipack release for GMO is all Japanese, with no english dubs or subs, it does look pretty boss. Not sure if you were joking or not, but I must confess I'm considering snagging one as well.

No, if there's no extras here either, then digipack is better!
The bonus disc in the US digipak is pretty pointless as it does not include English subtitles. Maybe some people don't know that. Unless you are fluent in Japanese, the bonus disc is pretty useless.

Right, I know, I'm just saying that for me a four-fold digipack is better, than a steelbook, and a bonus disc without translation is also better, than no disc at all - I can at least look at some behind the scenes footage maybe...
