Did anyone get their order with a poster from Film Vault directly yet?
Last they wrote was on the 7th of December, that there's 'paper shortages', and they'd get the posters first week of January. I mean, there were brief printing paper shortages in Russia after world first, historical 12 thousand sanctions, but what's up in England? :hilarious:

  • Thanks

Also, Royal Mail (the UK's leading postal service) isn't currently accepting or shipping international orders due to a cyber attack on their systems last week, so that may cause some delays with these too... unless of course they use a different courier.

Too dear. If they were £25 I might bite but to be honest they would need to have a wide range of films across Warner history for me to bite. How about a 4k of Them? or a 4k of The Beast from 20 Thousand fathoms in such packaging
Slightly off topic just received my 4k pressing of War of the Worlds from oz and that steelbook is impressive. Sets like that are what I want. Premium steels with fantastic artwork.

It's very unlikey Them (1954) and The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms (1953) would get a 4K remastering or get a UHD release from Warner UK
These films got a 2k scan remaster done and are DVD and Blu-ray releases only

You might have better luck with likes of Kino Lorber or another boutique label risking doing a UHD release but not Warner UK themselves

UHD discs market share is still tiny and these are not films they would consider at the moment for UHD release as Warner would be stuck with lot of UHD discs not sold

Reason why Warner films Goodfellas or Blade Runner gets multiple UHD releases is they are films titles that will always sell well

But is it not Warner themselves in the USA are doing the remastering and whatever country picks and choices it's discs. We got 4k exclusives in the UK like Casablanca and Get Carter..

Get Carter UHD was a 4K restoration done by BFI themselves from the original camera negative and was not a restoration done by Warner
All Warner did was let BFI have access to their 4K scan of the original camera negative so BFI could then finance and do the 4K restoration from that 4K scan of the negative
Restoration of a film is a separate process after a scan of the negative is done
Extensive picture restoration was then undertaken by Silver Salt Restoration financed by BFI and involved removing any instances of physical damage, scratching, and negative/positive density defects. This was followed by full HDR (high dynamic range) color grading.

Casablanca always sells well that why Warner themselves done a UHD release

There would not be enough sales of UHD discs for Warner themselves to consider doing a UHD release in regards to Them and The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms as these are considered B movies and DVD and Blu-ray releases is more appropriate for those films to get physical media purchases as a UHD release would not sell enough to be worthwhile doing
Casablanca is a popular mainstream film that always sells well
This is why Casablanca has got lot of re-releases every few years and was appropriate to get a UHD release as it was going to sell well with both the standard and limited edition releases

I disagree. I'm seeing seriously obscure films getting 4k releases that would never have the popularity of mainstream titles like Them!. Also I'm well aware of how restoration works, I have a photography Degree and specialise in still photography restoration as well as colourising mono negatives and prints. Over 25 years experience. So I know a wee bit about it.

You might have better luck with likes of Kino Lorber or another boutique label risking doing a UHD release of Them but not Warner USA/UK themselves
There has only been 1 Blu-ray release from Warner UK in regards to Them it has not got any re-releases
The HMV Exclusive Premium Collection of Them on Blu-ray/DVD released in 2016 is still available as in has not sold out and has not got any trade wide re-release in UK

If you expecting Them (1954) be a release in regards to Film Vault Collection that is unlikely to happen
Reminder the Film Vault range is films that already has had a UHD release from Warner/Universal in UK it's just limited edition repackaging of a existing UK UHD release that sell's well which is why those films get multiple UHD re-releases

Very few films sell out unless it's some sort of fancy steelbook or special edition. I suspect most companies take that into account when setting up the package. I would say Arrow would be a better bet for Them but I honestly don't know if Arrow have done any sort of deal with Warner on any titles. Also I don't know if Warner have done any deals with other labels on 4k. Blu-ray yes, no idea on 4k. I can think of at least 30 Warner classic titles with a vanity label that would do well on 4k

A boutique label commits to a total amount of Blu-ray and UHD discs that is then split between the limited edition and standard release
Most times the Limited Edition get release first to make money on a release then the standard edition gets a release after
Some end been a loss maker even if the limited editions sold well
The reason you then see SteelBook re-releases and other type limited edition packaging re-releases happen is to try sell of existing discs not sold

Even if Arrow decides to risk doing a UHD release of Them you would not see that Arrow disc be then used in regards to Film Vault Range
Film Vault Range is films on UHD that Warner/Universal has previously released themselves as a UHD release

Only way you would see Them get a release in regards to Film Fault Range is if Warner UK decided to do a UHD release themselves that is very unlikey to happen based on existing disc sales of Them on Blu-ray/DVD and it's also the reason why Warner not done any re-release of Them as in why it's still a HMV exclusive in UK

To be fair I haven't purchased any of the film vault range simply because I know they are limited in what titles they would do so I would be looking for a well known vanity label to give the film the deluxe treatment. And yes I know it's only had a 2k scan so someone would have to bite the bullet and redo it...... I loved the 4k War of the Worlds so I'm hopeful yet.

Received my Vice Press editions including posters of Goodfellas and Scarface. Love 'm. The editions are pretty big but have a solid weight so they can be showcased without stands ;)
The prints (24*36) are amazing. Highly recommend

So the heavy plexiglass block situated at the top of the case doesn't weigh it down, making it tip over like a drunken humpty-dumpty?
Probably because the bottom of the box is flat and sturdy.
