Funny looking shark fin, need to hit the aspect ratio button.
Yeah, it kinda resembles a sailboat to me. The art as it stands alone is pretty cool, but a true representation of the actual sharks fin from the movie would have been boss.

That said, while I didn't spring for the steel, I did manage to grab the Film Vault Set for JAWS, which is JAWSOME!!!!!!! Really man, it's a beautiful set.

Got mine from Zavvi today. Gotta admit I'm disappointed that a premium steel like this only features a streaky matt finish. The artwork would have really benefitted from the deeper blacks and colours that a glossy finish would have given it. I'm questioning whether to cancel my Apollo 13 film vault steelbook...

Premium is a reach. It's definitely an economy steelbook. It's just got recognised commissioned artwork, and a PET slip. I can see Apollo 13 looking sh!t after these (excluding 2001).

I like the design enough I'm not going to cancel my order but this was a real missed opportunity, I would have bought the entire range and future releases without question if they'd made sure it was high quality throughout.

I have the Film Vault 1917 big box and that certainly feels premium. My fault for assuming that their steelbooks would follow suit! It is such a shame though as I quite like the Jaws artwork, but in this form it looks rather drab and dull. Shame.

Damn, that's it. Cancelled the rest of the Film Vault. The quality on these are just not up to snuff.
I'd rather put the £160-£200 for all of these elsewhere.
This hobby is too expensive to blow money on bog standard steelbook finishes.
What a wasted opportunity on such great artwork. Should have done better.

That's the real issue here, they're not film vault's steels, they're WB/Uni's, and they're just basic run of the mill steel prints. Art is great, and the slips are fine, but the finish is unfortunate. Really hoping blade runner will be better, but I can't see it happening now sadly. Bizzare just 2001 had a nice finish.

I haven't seen one in person but isn't it just the spot gloss matching up quite nicely with the art used on the 2001 steelbook? The rest of the releases probably won't get that benefit so they feel a little underwhelming compared.

There are all streaky so far. Even the 2001. It's not underwhelming, it's poor printing choice. In other words. Cheap.

Goodfellas and Jaws arrived today from HMV, both with spine slashes (the one on Goodfellas actually cuts right through the sleeve). I think I am just going to cancel the rest and just keep 2001

It is spot gloss, yes. That is massively superior though. Gloss undercoat, matte sections on top. It voids streaky matte, which happens when a thin layer is printed straight onto the metal without a base. Yuck.
