True. Maybe it's a master plan to produce the most ass juice steelbook known to man, as a single steel, whilst going full deboss/gloss on the collectors edition version; to entice more buyers for the CE. Something like this perhaps...
I recently bought an amazingly beautiful mediabook boxset (for my taste), so I'll be waiting for a cheap amaray to get the UHD disc to replace with. Not buying that ugly steel...
You did good Lenny. Are these sold out now? Wish I'd done the same after seeing this steel.

Yeah, now they are - they were available from Medienversand for weeks, then they were delayed by almost 2 months. Now even the sales page was removed.
Different places have different views, this is actually a good thing but the first post I found about it on r/steelbook and they pretty much said they same thing, the design's a turd.
More experienced collectors here, casual buyers on Reddit me thinks...
Told it before, but The HDN forum is the lair of the bests, the creme de la creme. People with good tastes and great sense of humor.
Even the previous Blu-ray SteelBook with the same incorrect number of bullet holes for the mouth and same interior art was better than this.
That's decent but then I don't get why they're obsessing over the bullet smiley to the degree of using it on this old steel, the upcoming 4k collectors slipbox AND this new 4k steelbook (which may end up in the collectors set). It is a fun part of the movie but c'mon! This new version is not only far worse artwork than the previous steel but awfully lazy to rehash the same concept over and over (and over) again... try something else!
Part of me thinks thinks they don't respect the love for the franchise that people have enough. Maybe Mels contreversial issues over the years have clouded judgment or made people involved less enthusiastic to put some work/money into this. This might sound like hyperbole but imo if we get this art then I don't foresee any major disc extras or a fifth movie. Contextually, that's how badly I view this absolute abomination of a steelbook.
Hope I'm wrong and I'm being wildly cynical.
