Hi guys,

I'm looking in to buying a 4K TV & I've come across this one - http://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-43UH6500-4k-uhd-tv.

Its got HDCP 2.2 HDMI, HDR Pro and something called Color Prime Pro. Just wondering if anyone could give me thoughts on it? Its my first TV upgrade in nearly a decade (I've been watching blu-rays on a seriously outdated TV.) I've put a preorder in for an Xbox One S which is a 4K player as well as HDR capable, so I figured now was as good a time as any to upgrade the TV. I can't really go any bigger than 43", I haven't got the room unfortunately.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I would not buy any 4K TV that was not OLED. LG has the whole market right now in OLED.
(Samsung seriously dropped the ball on OLED - and will be playing catch up for years).
Check out the LG OLEDs. They are stunners.
(And, btw, the curved screens are still a gimmick. Don't bother with those models unless you happen to like a curved screen. They actually distort the picture, not improve it).
I spent a couple of weeks with flat screen LG OLED 65" - and it is incredible. The blacks are stunning.
The only negative (if it is a negative) is, I was not thrilled with the "laser pointer"-style, point-and-click remote. But this function can be overridden to be just a normal remote.

It looks like a good set, you are probably best checking out product reviews. It seems to be good value and has everything you need for Ultra HD Blu-rays, HDMI 2.2 and HDR.

The OLED's are great sets but too expensive at the moment. I would definatly look at them down the line but for cheaper sets LED's are still the way to go if you are buying now.

The money variable always alters the equation, of course. I, personally, am being patient. I have a Samsung 75" LED that is 2 years old - so I am in no hurry to upgrade yet. I LOVE OLED, But I am also not dropping down from 75" - and the LG 77" OLED is not only curved (no curved screens, please) but $25,000.00!!
So...yeah, that is not something I will be buying yet. I used to be the guy who liked getting all the new tech first - but I'll be damned if I do it here! It was bad enough when I would buy the first Blu ray player, and have a buddy buy the same item 12 months later at less than HALF the cost!
I do think it would be a mistake to upgrade to 4K without it being OLED, though.
(And we still don't know if 8K TV's will show up soon and make 4K a blip - but it will be nice when it happens - because 8K is the limit the human eye can see - which means 8K will be the end of needing upgrades forever!)
I can wait. The Sammy 75" LED is gorgeous and I love it.

Yeah I agree, my next purchase will be an OLED hopefully. The black levels and colours look far better than anything seen on and LED. Once the prices drop I will be interested, it may take time but as you say patience is the key. If you can wait long enough anything can be had for a good price!:)

Totally agree. Example: I used to get caught up in the hype and buy all these PS4 games on release. 99% of them I didn't play until a year later, when I could have gotten them 50% cheaper.
Patience is key. I will be fine, and wait for the prices to drop. And not only that - by waiting, you also end up with models that have worked out all the bugs from the Betas...In essence getting a better product at a better price.
Win-win.

Definatly, it is tempting to jump in and be a early adopter but there's usually a lot of pitfalls. Games prices do always fall but it is hard to get out of the early adopter mentality!! I remember when HD-DVD came out I bought the first Toshiba player for £420. No suprise that the machine was almost worthless 1 year later when Blu-ray won the war! That taught me a lesson about jumping in early! Lol!:)

 I hear you! I was SURE HD-DVD would win because they were Region Free...
I asked for one for Christmas. Right before Christmas was when the studios dropped the hammer on supporting Blu ray:wow::ohno:!!! Thank god that Costco had a 90 day return policy! But I was sweating those 90 days, because they had no blu ray players in stock to exchange it with, because they sold them all for Christmas!
About 5 days before the 90 day period ran out, they got some BR players. When I went to exchange the HD-DVD, the girl at returns said "the return price is less than sale price, I don't know why" -:bag: of course I DID! Costco corporate knew these were worthless now and changed them in the computer! I played stupid, and demanded full price back and got it!! Bullet dodged!
FYI- when it comes to formats - the porn industry always picks the winner! They have such a huge client base that they literally decide what the next format is going to be. Once they jumped on Blu-ray it was all over! (I chose a funny choice of words there...o_O)

This i completely agree with. It's kinda funny but it's true. :p
Apparently they are filming the first movie in space. The actors are getting a 6 month, zero gravity training.

 Reminds me of a joke I heard:
The Japanese porn industry are wanting to send people into outer space now, because apparently that is the only place with stuff they haven't f**ked yet.:rofl::rofl:

LOL!
But reminds me of a quote; "all good jokes contain true s**t". Because they do some f'd up stuff on screen
You should check out some of their local programs. :wow::hilarious:

It sounds like you got lucky! :) I wish I could have returned mine! Lol! I bought about 30 films, I was sure HD-DVD was going to win. As you said they were region free and once Paramount went exclusive I though it was done. I was very wrong, the PS3 came along and that was that. The HD-DVD drive for the Xbox failed miserably! I must admit I couldn't afford the Blu-ray players at the time so I got a PS3 myself. I traded in all the films for next to nothing, I got burned bad! Lol! You are right about the porn industry, they do have a big part to play in the outcome. Let's hope they get some UHD's released!

Right, so after some careful deliberation (hours of googling multiple sets), I've decided on this one, the LG-43UH750V: http://www.lg.com/uk/tvs/lg-43UH750V.

Its a couple of hundred more than I had a planned on spending but it seems to be the best 43" I've found & has gotten very good reviews. Its also the only 43" LG offer that has Ultra Luminance and Local Dimming, along with HDR and Color Mapping Pro. Seems to be the best set I'm going to find.

I'd love to get an OLED but sadly they're just a bit out of my price range at the minute, as is the size situation, I'm strapped for space and can only really fit a 43". Saying that, I'll be going from a nearly 10 year old 32" to a brand new 43" so the jump for me will be pretty astounding anyway, I'd imagine.

Cheers for all the feedback guys!

That's exciting! Excellent.
There are plenty of us that are going to be waiting for OLED to come down.
I'm glad you didn't break the bank - since OLED will be doing two things worth waiting for: 1) coming down in price and 2) improving as it does come down in price.
And LED is still the Sh*t!!:thumbs:
