*PLEASE NOTE: This list is a 'guide' only and compiled based on a variety of factors including community 'feedback' and 'suggestions'. Steelbook collecting is HIGHLY SPECULATIVE, and different collectors have different ideas of 'rarity', 'limited', 'sought after', and related terms-all of which may change at the drop of a hat with re-releases, or new info.

Please visit the Steelbook forum, if you have more detailed questions regarding specific titles, and their 'current' status, as this list is 'dynamic' and changes over time. *

I posted this in another forum before but I prefer this one, so I try again here. This is an ongoing list that combines a variety of factors that may contribute to the scarcity or rarity of these Steelbooks.-Sirjump

We started off with a "ranked" list, but as many folks may rank items differently, a general "resource" list of harder to find Steelbooks/Rare titles helps the community more. Feel free to comment so we can consider adding or subtract. -Digitalbabe

:scat:Keep sharing your thoughts & together we can help the list evolve!:)

Possible criteria as to what makes a steelbook rare/hard to find:

* General interest in movie
* Availability at retailer & exclusivity
* Print run
* Country of origin & region code
* Steelcase design
* (Initial) price
* Individually numbered items
* Print Errors
* Hype
* Price on 3rd party marketplaces

I'd like to nominate the following UK Blu-Ray SteelBooks for the list:

The Fast & Furious 1-4 - One of the earlier UK Blu-Ray SteelBook releases, but has been exceptionally hard to track down since release

The Human Centipede (website exclusive) - Only available directly from the HC website, and limited to a few thousand. Most people are unaware that this even exists

The Transporter 3 (HMV Exclusive) - One of the only UK exclusives I have missed, and have been searching for one ever since release day. Other European variations are reasonably common in comparison

I think the recently released Entertainment Store exclusive Jack Reacher SteelBook fulfills the criteria to be considered as a "rare" release. Limited to 500 copies (scratched), with another 500 on their way

Likewise, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters and G.I. Joe: Retaliation should be added to this list when they are eventually released

I am also surprised that the UK releases of Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man aren't on the list (only non-UK variations). I would say all are sought after, and all long sold out and OOP

Do you have them?

I've got the Czech and the Finland versions.. Both are OOS\OOP and there is only 1 on ebay.

A google search reveals nothing.

Very hard to find!

Thought I'd found a Hungarian but it looks like it has eluded me.

I'm having to look through Hungarian forums.. It's hard!

Wow. I never knew I had a rare one (The King's Speech). I might have kept it sealed if I did, but I wanted to Disc 2 Digital it and I need to take the disc to Walmart for that. I remembered thinking "it's not going to be worth much, I might as well open it". Guess I was wrong. Oh well. Still an OK movie I can see myself watching again and a neat, if somewhat different looking metal box.

On another note, how has the recent re-released been affecting the values? Has anything been taken off the list because of them? The only ones I have that have been re-released are Zombieland (different artwork though) and the Japan Dark Knight/Batman Begins.
