Francis Ford Coppola’s 1974 seminal neo-noir thriller The Conversation symbolizes the uneasy line between technology and privacy — a topic more relevant than ever today. Nominated for three Academy Awards® and winner of the prestigious 1974 Cannes Film Festival Palme d’Or, this harrowing psychological-thriller stars Gene Hackman alongside Cindy Williams, Frederic Forrest, and Harrison Ford, and is regarded as one of Coppola’s greatest films. Harry Caul (Hackman) is a surveillance expert in San Francisco whose routine wiretapping job turns into a nightmare when he hears something disturbing in his recording of a couple — something a lot more important than adulterous goings-on. His investigation of the tape and how it might be used sends Harry spiraling into a web of secrecy, murder, and paranoia.

That other one was a rip off then?
Same package and contents BUT this one includes a Steelbook and sleeve instead of an bog standard Amaray. With exchange rates this is probably the same price.
Studio Canal ripped us the hell off in our regions

Basically, yeah. I ordered the UK version with the digipak from the BFI shop for around $80 shipped.
Now, I am wondering two things:
1) Is this ONLY going to be on sale from Lionsgate's new proprietary shop? (Therefore, no price comeptition)
2) Will there be a steelbook only version down the line?

I dunno but I'm pissed too. I bought the Studio Canal version here.
Very annoying. Lionsgate might sell the steel alone in the US regions.
We got a solo Amaray over here after a few months of the collectors set selling out.

Damn, that steel is nice but no way at 79.

The steelbook is just OK.....
But that slip with VU meter window is so damn sexy....

The slip sells it for me.
And did you notice? The box is THINNER and less chunky than the StudioCanal box
It does now you mention it.
Might just be the image sizing though. That box needed to be way smaller anyway.

After seeing this. I've decided to sell on my Studio Canal version; now that Lionsgate have dropped this, wait on either a single steelbook from them or just buy the cheap Amaray over here.

Might try to email Studio Canal and ask why they are such dics and if they're going to fix their mess.

I read a rumour last night that these Lionsgate releases will only be available through the Lionsgate webstore going forward and that their first exclusives strictly available that way will be the new upcoming Tarantino 4K steelbooks.

Terrible decision if true. I really like Lionsgate but I can’t support only buying through them if true

Yeah- mine's unopened- so maybe I should go that route too.
I'd would like to wait and see if the steelbook gets released by itself....but if this is a limited edition and sells out and then if there's no steelbook only release- that would suck.

I $35 steelbook like this movie. I might $50 collector's edition like this movie. But I don't $80 collector's edition like this movie, especially when it uses the same illustration four times. And Durieux has even done another poster for the film. I'll hold out for a steel-only release later on.

That's a better image from them as well. I prefer this one.
