Craig Mazin, the creator of the acclaimed limited series Chernobyl, is reteaming with HBO to adapt The Last of Us, the massive Sony PlayStation video game franchise.

In a rare development in the world of video game adaptations, the writer and creative director of the game, Neil Druckmann, is also involved and will work with Mazin to pen and executive produce what is intended to be a series.

Carolyn Strauss will also executive produce along with Evan Wells, the president of Naughty Dog, the Santa Monica-based developer of the game. The project is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television in association with PlayStation Productions. It will be the first television series from PlayStation Productions.

Enjoyed the first episode. Gonna watch the 2nd tonight with my mate but tonight’s the night right? It’s happening tonight? :dunno:

What’s interesting is I watch it with a mate who’s not a gamer and has no idea what happens in the games and just watches the series with me so it’s hard for me to talk about certain things and not spoil it. He asked me the other day if this is the same start to the 2nd game and I explained that they’ve given a big thing away already that we as gamers didn’t know for a while so he instantly knows abbey is in it for revenge because of all those graves at the start and what they talk about and I explained they’ve started this slightly differently and I showed him the opening to part 2 and he asked why do you play as Ellie and Abbey and not Ellie and Joel like the first game… and how the f**k do I answer that without spoiling anything? lol so I said well a big thing happens that will make sense soon and he pretty much instantly guessed what happens to joel lol. Oh well. They could’ve dragged a certain bit of information out for a bit for those not familiar with the game which is a strange choice imo

Anyway if it’s happening tonight in episode 2 then I’m fukin not looking forward to this!

Haven't played the games but was told some time ago what happens at the beginning of the second game. I was hoping they'd change this plot point in the show...but damn.

:offtopic:

It was in a different setting and some different sh!t went down but man that still hurt

That happens about 2 hours in the game too so at least they kept the pace lol

Really enjoyed tonight’s episode

I felt like they hadn’t aged Bella that much in the 5 year gap and as a kid to a teen it’s quite a substantial difference and she kinda acted like the younger Ellie still but in tonight’s episode I felt like she seemed older. And bit more chilled.

Thank god for this week's episode as last weeks was shite

The girl who plays Dina is absolutely stealing the show, be interesting to see how much more they deviate from the game than they already have to keep her central to the story every week

Another great episode. I actually prefer the way they did the theatre entrance with how she see her get bit and watching her all night and then the pregnancy news compared to how it pans out in the game. I know it’s different because of spores anyway but that scene worked much more emotionally in the series.

Jeffery Wright is a savage. Seems like he’s going to be an awesome new addition.

The record shop scene was quality too. Very happy to see these 2 beasts make an appearance and shout out to Ja Rule - Pain is Love lol

Am I the only one thinking that the two actresses don't have a lot of chemistry? I don't know, haven't played the games so I don't have the source material to compare it to, but their relationship feels incredibly forced.

Bella Ramsey has been quiet meh this season, she was a questionable choice for Ellie in the first place but I thought she did good in season 1 but this season it's been a bit of a struggle and she hasn't been able to hit the same way video game Ellie does. I thought this week was better though to be fair.

their chemistry is improving as they fall in love which Is the point. You’ll see after the newest episode

It prob seems forced at first but Dina swings both ways and comes to realise she likes Ellie more than Jessie
