Ffs here we go again.

I mean while I don't think the other Cameron "restorations" are nearly as bad as people make out, I would even argue they can look good. I mean ffs the last video I saw about it had the picture blown up 500% showing a piece of I think Vasques hair for 3 frames that looks a bit dodgy...

Anyway, Cameron needs to get over the fact that these movies are shot on film, that there is nothing wrong with film grain and that with our current technology trying to remove it actively harms the end result. Someone needs to take the editing rights away from this guy and just let a competent company do a proper 4k master.
On the flip side, so called traditionalist purists need to get over the fact that there is nothing wrong with a cleaned up digital look, if done correctly. True Lies and Aliens on 4K is the best they've ever looked and will probably ever look. T2 has also received an almost apocalyptic level of vitriol for a transfer who's bad qualities detract way too hard from its good qualities, which is absurd. We have to stop acting like spoiled little brats and embrace the glass half full concept. These films are the Intellectual Property of one James Cameron and he's free from all hell to do what he feels like with them. I can only appreciate he is willing to give them an upgrade at all.

Brother. Terminator 2 in 4k is a dumpster fire and there's no denying that.
True Lies is fine. I don't care, it's a great film and looks great for the most part.
Aliens and especially Abyss are pretty much perfect for me. Abyss is damn hot. That film has been waiting in the line for some good love for decades. And now we have it finally. Let's just enjoy it.
T2 though...that's hard to praise. Even so, most of us have older blu rays if we're so inclined to moan, watch them, so it's a win win.
As you say, just enjoy the films

JCs comments, well, let's say he could have been more tactful.:D

What I'm most annoyed about is - how come were getting a Terminator steelbook and not one for Aliens,True Lies and The Abyss :wacky: :offtopic:

What an absolute moron.. I never want to give money to people like this ever again. Luckily I never blind buy 4k releases. Will wait and see how Terminator will fair, otherwise I'll just stick with the blu-ray.
I don't live in a basement (or at my parents') but these people keep using this same insult as if living like that is the lowest form and those people aren't entitled to their opinions and to criticize others.

Where do you draw the line? Were you OK with the cleaned up look of the Ecce **** too then? :p

We're allowed to voice our complaints if we take issue with their choices, I'm not hurting Lucas by pointing out maybe all the CGI additions he made to Star wars didn't really improve those films and equally I'm not hurting Cameron by pointing out his lazy 4k releases could have looked a lot better and been the definitive releases through merit rather than just timing.

edit: I can't even quote the name of a painting? Boo! This is censorship gone too far!

The whole living in your Mother's basement rant from Cameron is shocking. Many young people can't afford to move out of their parents, or have to move back in because of either losing their job, or they can't find one. Times are tough for many people and we can't all be award winning Hollywood directors or the king of the world.

I think Cameron’s comment is hilarious and some of you getting offended and upset by it is even funnier. The irony. He’s got you eating out of his hand

I wouldn't say I was offended. I just didn't think there was any need to be nasty. Did you get that job @Flloydo as the King Of The World's bottom wiper? ;)
Even to say he’s been nasty seems to be a little snow flake-ish

I didn’t, but if I apply again and stress that I have you as the wet wipe to use on all the hurt bottoms then I’m sure I’ll get it with flying colours

We don't have basements in the UK really, so Cameron's clearly been misinformed about Great British geeks.
Lol yeah we’re exempt from his comments
