Turbine's press release does say exactly that. Actually, so does the listing in Turbine Shop (under "Extras").

"Apart from the UHD100, both editions contain a remastered Blu-ray based on the new restoration."

"Blu-ray Disc remastered in 4K"

Right, okay. I haven't read that, I'm just going off the listing on the website (which doesn't say it's a new remaster, unlike the 4k disc) and what was said about their previously remastered blu-ray.

It was totally the same source as the Universal one. At least as the common working base.

And needless to say, Turbine's remaster was not 4K-based. That 4K remaster was a more recent one, supervised by Jan de Bont, where he also tweaked the colors.
It shared next to no similarities with the old uni bluray source. It was vastly superior. I remember going through it all at the time. It obviously wasn't based off the brand new remaster supervised by jan de bont, though, I know that.

The site does say it's a 4K remaster. ;)
Yes, which I've acknowledged already lol i expected the previous remaster to also be based off a 4k scan, as why would anyone do anything else in 2021... there's nothing about it being "new" (unlike the 4k disc), that was my entire point.

Well, basically, it shares the framing & the colors pretty. Where it stands apart from it, is the sharpness and the grain.

The 4K restoration and the 2021 Turbine Blu have distinctively different looks to them.
Well yeah, that's the whole point of anyone wanting this release now.
I just thought the 2021 Blu-ray and the current one included with the UHD disc might be the same, but you're saying they remastered it once based on some other existing transfer then, and now made another, which would be a third one, because it's definitely not the green-added marasmatic horror...
