Spoke Art is delighted to share new print editions from the ongoing
Ukiyo-e Heroes series from artist Jed Henry. Inspired by pop culture worlds from film, television, comics, video games and more, each design is expertly printed on archival Japanese paper giving them a uniquely delicate presentation.
Follow the link below to familiar faces like Godzilla, Sailor Moon, Spider-Man, Gundam, One-Punch Man and dozens more. We've also restocked previously sold out fan favorites! All prints measure 12" x 17" and are available for $40 each.
Roughly translated to "The Floating World", Ukiyo-e was a popular art style throughout Japan's Edo Period, and the flat, graphic and ethereal illustrations translate well in the genre's preferred printing medium: woodblock. Since 2010, artist Jed Henry has illustrated an ongoing series...

The bottom right cartouche is inscribed with
此若者天賦の力を授るハ唯世を護重荷に被潰為耶 正当ならんや 如何ならんや,
and can be read as, 'k
ono wakamono tenpu no chikara o sazukaru wa tada yo o mamoru omoni ni tsubusareru tame ka, seitō naran ya, ika naran ya'. A rough translation can be interpreted to mean:

Only that they may be crushed
Under the heavy burden of protecting our world,
