This was a really tough one. I must say that I personally consider Jurassic Park and Godzilla (1954) to fall under horror, but I left them out since I know most don't consider those horror. Here's my list...

* Alien
The Evil Dead
The Mist
The Descent
Halloween (1978)
Jaws
Scream (a tie for the entire franchise)
Saw
Slither
The Thing (1982)

Thanks so much, Synapse!

Wow! Struggle to get it down to 10 but here it goes!
1. The Exorcist* - just the greatest horror film ever made!
2. The Thing* - an exercise of great suspense!
3. Halloween* - gave birth to the modern horror flick.
4. The Fly (1986)* - best body horror flick made.
5. Psycho (1960)* - definitely the best directed film and the best final scene
6. The Wicker Man (1973)* - who saw that ending coming? True horror!
7. Blade* - some say action but I'm having it as horror! Just love Stephen Dorff in this. Example of true cool!
8. Interview with the Vampire* - maybe not a true horror but the film that really proved Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt could act. And Kristen Dunst outshines them both.
9. Descent* - only film from the 2000s that makes my list. First film for a while that actually scared me! And go for the British and not the US ending. Trust me...
10. Alien* - harrowing! The sense of dread and isolation. Never bettered.

Great giveaway! Thank you!

That's a tough one but I'll give it a go (I tried to keep it strictly horror and not comedy horror as in Evil Dead, Braindead etc as that would take up a list on its own):

Rosermary's Baby*
Insidious
The Woman In Black
Cube
Rec
Alien
The Thing
The Devil's Backbone
Shutter
The Babadook

Thanks for the giveaway!
