When Gearbox Software's Aliens: Colonial Marines arrives in 2013, players will be able to pick up a $100 collector's edition of the spacebound shooter, the company announced today. The highlight of the premium bundle, due out for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, is the Powerloader figurine (pictured), which will come inside a "xeno hive" box.

On top of this, the Aliens: Colonial Marines collector's edition will pack in four characters stemming from the 1986 film Aliens. These characters will be playable in the game's multiplayer component, and include Private Hudson, Corporal Hicks, Private Drake, and Sergeant Apone.

In addition, the premium bundle contains Ripley's flamethrower, exclusive multiplayer weapons (Sonic Electronic Ball Breakers and the Phase Plasma Rifle), the USCM Academy firing range game level, unspecified character customization options, and a USCM dossier that contains various documents.

On top of announcing the Aliens: Colonial Marines collector's edition, Gearbox also revealed that those who preorder the game will score the previously mentioned Aliens multiplayer characters, Ripley's flamethrower, and character customization options.

The Aliens: Colonial Marines collector's edition and preorder content will be made available to all for purchase sometime after launch, a Gearbox representative told GameSpot. Exact timing and pricing details will be announced at a later date.

Additionally, Gearbox confirmed to GameSpot this afternoon that there are no plans for a PC collector's edition for Aliens: Colonial Marines in North America, but a premium Windows bundle will be available internationally. As for the Wii U version--which will be the best-looking, according to Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford--Gearbox said "we will have more news on that front at a later time."

Aliens: Colonial Marines was recently delayed to February 12, 2013 after previously being scheduled to ship this fall. The Wii U version has not yet been assigned a release date.

The story of Aliens: Colonial Marines picks up shortly after the events of the 1986 sci-fi film Aliens. Players will join a squad of the titular space soldiers who board the USS Sulaco, the spaceship from the film, after it is apparently abandoned. From there the action will spread to the surface of the planet LV-426 and its main settlement, Hadley's Hope. The first-person shooter will also feature environments and weapons inspired by the film.
