Custom PS3 Controllers

I (finally) got my controllers back this weekend. I sent them in to Colorware for painting - and they look great! I am extremely pleased with the results, the clear coat or resin or whatever that is over the paint is very glossy and feels good in the hands as well. If you guys are considering colorware, I can say that I'm very pleased with the finish, quality stuff!

These pics don't really do them justice, especially on the green one, but it will give you an idea anyways.

They do consoles as well. In fact, it looks like they just added the PS3 slim this week. You can see all the colors there too.

I sent my controllers in, so they were $29 a piece. You can buy them new from colorware and have them painted and shipped to you, but they chage you the full $55 retail for the controller, plus the $29 to paint it. I got one of my controllers for free and the other with gift cards through amazon ($42) so it's a little better to do it that way I think.

I thought shipping was a little steep though... could be different depending on your area. I think mine was like $18 for the two controllers....

Honestly though, these pics suck. The paint and finish on these controllers is incredible. Still considering an orange one

And son-of-a-b.... it looks like they just added the root beer color as well. I really wanted that one but they didn't have it listed as an option when I ordered a few weeks ago. They just had it featured on the front page.

Critical Question.. did they clean and repaint those Sony letters, etc...???

I'm just wondering if they take the whole thing apart and give it an immaculate cleaning?

The site says that they take it apart and then send the case in to the paint specialists while the insides sit in a static free enviornment until the painting is done.

I think the letters and stuff might be new. The numbers on top that say which port the controller has been assigned (1,2,3,or 4) are white now as well. I can't tell if they are painted on or if they are stickers but they look great either way. They are definitely under the clearcoat as well.

The colors that I got were Midnight and Dragon Green. They are both listed in the metallic color series.

Yeah, those new ones look kinda dull and cheap. I just couldn't bite on one of those....
