All Blu-ray releases should be done in 4k. The last couple of movies that I've reviewed from Sony have had incredible coloring and details. I hope that other studios follow suit because 4k is the way to go

Pleased you weren't bashing the venerable CRT - I loved them.

You are though forgetting that we benefitted from having PAL here in the Uk (and in most of Europe) which is 625 lines.

Philips Pixel Plus increased that to 833 lines, and doubled the horizontal resolution, and the result is really damned close to full HD long before it was put on the market - not just a little better.
Seeing is believing - they were amazing sets, at the peak of CRT development - everything after that was about penny-pinching.

I did not know that Jack. PAL had a definite advantage, compared to us in the US, but I wasn't complaining. I was happy to play outside all day and watch movies into the night. I didn't pay attention back then, but after awhile I started to and there's no turning back, once that begins. My pocket book is getting tighter, so I make the best of what I can do and think everyone should be happy with what they can do with their own set-ups. It's all good my friend.

I agree the 4K's should be standard on blu's now.
