Per Homemediamagazine:

Warner Bros. Digital Distribution March 8 will begin offering movies for first time for purchase and rent on its Facebook movie page.

Fans who “Like” The Dark Knight will be able to use their Facebook credits to rent the title for 30 credits or $3. Currently only U.S. consumers can rent movies. Warner plans on adding more films in the coming months, with a purchase option promised as well.

“Facebook has become a daily destination for hundreds of millions of people,” said Thomas Gewecke, president of Warner Bros. Digital Distribution. “Making our films available through Facebook is a natural extension of our digital distribution efforts. It gives consumers a simple, convenient way to access and enjoy our films through the world’s largest social network.”

Renters still will have access to their Facebook page while viewing the film, with the ability to post comments, interact with friends and update their status. Renters can access the film for a 48-hour window after activation.
