Wreck is this for any steel from any retailer I take it? Does this include old ones I am talking like going back one year?

Okay I go first! Well this is where I first encountered one ages ago from The Town FS sometime last year in October 2011 so it was a while ago. No one really spoke about spines with a scratch mark or appeared to be slashed.

At first I didnt recognise it but only when I looked closely I saw it. Wasn't sure if it was a manufacturing error or not as the shrink wrap was in tact and not cut through or marked in anyway.

I take it this qualifies Wreck!?

Yep, this is not just happening at the retailers. As I mentioned in the Terminator play.com thread mine had been slashed before being shrinkwrapped (the cardboard slip and shrink were fully intact yet hiding under it was the slash).

I'll post more up soon. Thing is, most others I've received in the past have gone straight back so I don't have every steel I received with this problem still in hand, but I've got a few.

(Slashed before shrink wrapped)

do companies actually care - the fact this still happens is completely beyond a joke to me...

Surely when the unsealed steels are put in boxes initially, you'd think of putting a thick cardboard/tough plastic sheet on top of them. Thus when someone uses a sharp knife to open the box, the spines of the steels are protected...This is absolute BASIC business sense. Identify the easiest/most cost effective solution and implement it. I'm flabbergasted at quality control of steelbooks and astounded why the most simplest of solutions has yet to be taken to eradicate it! This isn't isolated incidents, it is large percentages of product (a specialised collectable product) being ruined.

Happened also with prometheus and lots of others :(

I feel like I should go get a job with a few fellow collectors in these warehouses and we'll treat the steelbooks with the care they deserve...unlike these absolute imbeciles in warehouses who couldn't give a flying monkeys!

As I mentioned in my other post Prometheus came with a slashed spines :( I know a lot of us have Watchmen and Transformers on Preorder and I would urge you to drop Play an email asking them to be careful with your orders.

Also to post pics on this thread of your slashed spines. Let's help Wreck help US!:scat:

Wreck, does Play want evidence of this before they take action or its just a pre-emptive thing so we can back our claim?

I know its not just Play that are guilty of this but they're the only one it seems that take feedback from their customers. (e.g. packaging)

I was just wondering thats all

Another one for The Town FS release:

And, I don't know WTH happened with this Avengers DE from Amazon. :wtf: It is a squiggly slice from top to bottom on the spine. Too much sauce in the werehouse? :p

I believe its happening at a different step of the manufacturing then retail level ... at least these perfect slice spots in middle of spine. So therefore I'm passing this on not to Play but Scanavo global.

Hopefully it will raise awareness and/or get us some answers etc.
