Anything other than LiT I guess? If it wasn't clear I was joking, while I really do dislike LiT it's perfect fodder for collectors and a single person's opinion of a film isn't worth a great deal objectively.

At least in the short term I think I'm pretty much onboard for any project from Astro Creations, mainly because I want to support someone who's choosing to be involved directly with their customers, that feels like something worth supporting so even if they pick a film I don't especially care for, there's clearly careful thought being put into the selection and really I just want to see them do well; a positive story is nice once in a while.

Let's not let our passion for film become something negative, this should be fun, shouldn't it?

Of course, well said

Great pick! Love this film (Alex Garland :notworthy:) and I don't have any Blu-ray edition for it yet!

Will be happy to get one after the great Lone Survivor edition :) — I got the slim slip edition for that one, too bad there won't be a slim slip edition for Annihilation though.

The S&S aren't a definitive no at present.

Although feedback was fantastic for these, it was evident that the XL out sold them by quite a margin.

I need to evaluate everything, I sent a survey out and amazingly i had over 700 customers participate and the general consensus was, XL>OC>STEEL ONLY>S&S

The total cost for production on LS kept me up a night  so i just need to make a decision as to if the S&S is worth running with. IF i do, its likely they will be via the OC & or HMV exclusively .

Will have a lot more info during the start of next year.

Thanks as always for the support!

Congratulations you managed to get the license to do Annihilation. Just a few weeks ago, when Manta announced their collaboration with Universal, I was wondering if this would eventually lead to a Premium for this movie and will save me from paying $$$ for the elusive Zavvi release. Well, it's Astro instead of Manta, but this is just as good.
I didn't buy Lone Survivor, but received the Slim Slip from a friend who collects the bare SteelBooks only. I like it a lot (albeit it's a tad too large, in my opinion), therefore I am looking forward to what you craft for Annihilation. It will most likely be my first purchase at your company.
About the slip sizes: Personally I prefer the regular sized slips, i.e. the one with room for a booklet and the SteelBook. I don't care much for all the other stuff. I just want a beautiful slip, an awesome SteelBook, and a decent-quality booklet. Just my 2 cents.

I definitely like smaller sized slips (preferably MantaLab sized) i only have so much bookshelf space lol

That would be a tough decision to go to that format, considering most like slips being uniform, changing to a smaller slip similar to those of manta probably won't happen unfortunately.
My OCD would be trigged if you'd switch to "Manta sized slips" from now on. But yes, I do prefer them over XL ones (mainly because of bookshelf space).

I've learned during my first year of collecting, back in 1998, that there will never be enough space, after filling up a 4th tiny cheap disc shelf.
I laugh at collectors citing the size of a package, like The Vault editions, as a detractor, because they're missing out, denying themselves, and artificially limiting their collections. And however you try and plan, you'll always, always run out of space, every time, year after year...

I wouldn't really compare AC's size to the vault, their packaging can't survive its own contents and it's deep and tall which doesn't fit in well on my shelves but AC XL is just wider. Yes I would prefer a more standard size but it's not truly problematic, I can only see it causing issues if they ever wanted to do variant art slips, just two XL slips would be bigger than a Blufans/ML/etc OC.

For me as a collector I've always liked a "chunkier" slip.

Every opinion is going to differ across the board, its always going to be divided as to what you prefer or what you have space for. The issue as a creator you cant realistically cater for everyone's needs/wants.
That's why the S&S was introduced alongside the XL, to provide a smaller option for those that didn't want the extra content.

Here's a comparison pic of some very random slips i found in the office, Mantas is actually taller then the others and the arrow sets & SS big sets are mostly double that in size (TCM/DRIVE)

The XL is 2mm wider than FAC (without lentis) & the same as EB's Blupaks i think they were called?

When i ran the survey S&S was quite a bit behind steel only/OC & XL but its evident at HDN there's still a market for it. I need to think on what way to proceed with this next release but unfortunately for those that don't like the size of the XL they will be staying and wont be replaced with a manta sized slip, after all were not trying to be Manta or anyone else really.

Some will want to collect this line and some wont, that's completely fine. I personally didn't collect the first run of TOC or the newest tall boxes. They just weren't for me and my taste :)

Yeah, I wasn't really comparing these two, just blabbering in general, as an example, because I believe one cannot plan for everything, or at least gotta have some taller spaced shelves prepared for something non-standard. There's also Columbia Classics type of boxsets, and A24 tall digibooks, etc.
