Sorry all, I was busy last night, so I missed all the hullabaloo. I had voiced strong objections against an MP GB move a while back now, but ultimately it's Dan's business and it's not my call.

Given I'm in the UK, it won't directly impact me purchasing, so I can still buy any titles I want from his web store, but I feel for the rest of the community who cannot, and won't deal with MP.

From what he has been told, and for the way he thinks it will work, I can see the sense in it for him, but I'm dubious it'll play out so well. I hope it works out for him, and much like @Wreck, Ive left the door open to continue HDN GBs if his plans change.

There will be no "charge" to join the forum to purchase an AC release. The pricing will be transparent up front and you wont need to be a member to purchase one. It would be no different then using other GB hosts.

To be honest. That site is...well ...weird & (no other word here) difficult.
Yeah, they have аn unnecessarily convoluted GB process. Join via a form, which is fine, but then you gotta wait till you're added to some club, then don't forget to find some club section, find a thread there, sign up for notifications from it, so you don't miss a post about prepayment or 'entrance ticket', and don't get banned, which is in their store section, usually with a bunch of other items that you gotta be careful not to 'buy' a wrong one.

Then wait for a notification to buy the actual item. Then shipping separately. It all works out to a very expensive total. For their bootlegs, like Creative Era slips or MP cases it's usually $150 shipped. For an empy fracking case or slip. Those guys are just exploiting collectors because many dummies are still paying that.

You're saying @AstroC13 that will NOT be the process for your Group Buys there? That they will not add another $30+ for each item on top for their assinine 'service'? You already stated the full price will be known ahead, because they LOVE hiding the price until everyone joins the GB, so NOT paying is also a ban. They rule with lies and dictatorship fear.
Not to mention we live in a world now with drop shipping services everywhere if you want to farm out the shipping use one of those services locally or even FBA is an option (fulfilled by Amazon)

The added cost of the 3rd party shipping service will likely even pale in comparison to that of middle men GB Hosts.
That's what I wanted to say also. I've noticed that the major problem is not the pre-selling, but shipping each release. It's a major pain in the arse. So wasn't there a service that could be hired to pack and ship everything? I mean I'm sure most people would gladly pay for that service INSTEAD of a single cent to North MediaKorea!

This is how they think of us over there.

From a member @R1s1ngs0n who I assume is the same here.
To put it as mildly as possible, they are a bitter, jealous and miserable bunch who have seen practically every Premium retailer and GB host that was willing to service them, unceremoniously leave their site over the past few years.

One does only need to scroll through some of their topics to realize that their favorite pastime mainly consists of bashing other forums, retailers, artists, you name it... that is when they're not busy insulting each other. You will be hard pressed to find such examples here, I assure you.

And that is where you, my dear Dan, will see lies the difference between them and MP - we are first and foremost a community, whereas they belong to that category of forums which thrive on toxicity and discourtesy.

It's because this isn't a North Korea forum, where people are always happy, or get banned, you tool.

Well, it's hard to argue with some of that haha we are generally a bunch of angry @$$holes, and things do easily get out hand in most threads here, but that's the thing about free speach

There's a difference between being an actual POS sh!t person, who deserves a site ban, and someone who politely questions a regime that admins don't like. Nobody should have to force niceties and type on eggshells to be part of an open forum.

Other forums just do not have the same level of communication, general chat and banter like we do. Most other forums are pretty boring tbh. Zero life

Imagine using bashing other forums, retailers and artists as a reason to try and belittle another forum when bad artworks, KOSM, CineMuseum, Zavvis customer service and now Film Arenas shadyness to name a few exist lol. What a fücktard, making it out like you just have to put up with bullsh!t lol

Oh actually that makes sense why they still go ahead with those awful discless bootleg designs I see them post on socials all the time because apparently they like everything including sh!t artworks. I get it now. Gimmie a fukin break.

Every forum is a community. But I ain’t ever seen one like this anywhere else in this niche section of the web. Clowns

When I was looking for forum dedicated to our beloved steelbooks, I considered many solutions. Finally, I choose to spend the most of my time dedicated to this hobby here. Why? Because there’re a particular atmosphere, a certain ethic, quality criticism, and members with great sense of humor.
Many here seems to share the same opinions about @AstroC13 decisions. Is does confirm that I am indeed in the right place.
I can’t see myself dealing with MP because of ethical divergence.
I’m so sorry because I was planning to join @samdavies ‘s GB for the next release. Unfortunately, it won’t happen. (n)

Weird thing about this is this Risingson person comes across all the things they accuse HDN of in a single message. They sound super bitter. Perhaps it is repressed emotions for not being allowed to criticise anything on MP apparently? I genuinely don't remember the exact culture but f me if you're not allowed to slag some of these terrible releases and prices we have had lately... well then you have your answer as to why they are there paying 150 for the Creator Error stuff. Delusional person. I am only referring to that one user with regards to that comment.

They clearly aren't bias and put a lot of effort in at HDN

I got a long with quite a few MP users. Off the top of the dome Scary Hair & Basil (who i think is the same Basil here). I fell out with absolutely no one... except the great dictator JOHN. My only gripe was ever with him. Perhaps there are other's at the top of the food chain but honestly not around long enough to experience anyone but the dictator. Experiencing him was enough to leave for good.

Also I'd just add if you search these forums without bias you would also find countless folks fawning over releases endlessly. We are constantly giving credit to people, retailers artists and especially releases themselves. Sometimes the way we talk about things I wonder if we'd consider sexual advances from the right glossy debossed slip should it become conscious...

I mean Astro will surely have a sore head from the adulation his releases were getting to the rigmarole he has unfortunately put himself in. So I'm sure "Dear Dan" will be acutely aware of how we give credit where credit is due and are mostly apathetic about poor releases except for the real shockers (like reprints of numbered releases or astronomical prices for sub par finishes).

All I say is I'm far happier being a member of like @samdavies says a site with free speech. Also completey agree with @Flloydo and echo everything he says. I love being a part of this community and helping Ninjas, discussing releases and appreciation of the collecting culture is why we all here... we just have a laugh doing it imo :)

Yeh its an awful experience. The fact they dont even tell you the price of each version/a one click is a joke. You go into every single group buy blind about pricing.

Pretty sure you'll notice a huge dip in purchases if you choose to partner with MP. As with most EU-customers here, I'll be done. I would look into hiring someone or a third party to do the shipping while allowing people to order direct at your website. There is a reason Manta Lab is at top of the game, direct purchases, no hassle with GBs.

Hello, I read your messages and the Astro Creations exclusivity deal at MP... How does that work then? What will happen to the Annihilation GB? Will the orders still be fulfilled? Thank you in advance.

Yes. Everything already sold is still locked in, don't worry. The move applies to forthcoming releases only, not to Annihilation.
