Was kind of disappointed today when I came home from work and there was still no e-mail from zavvi. But being patient is the only option here atm.

In fact, I wouldn't mind to get my dispatch-notice later than anyone else, as long as this means they are sending it from the NL to me. Would save me some trouble with customs. I recently received Horns and it was sent via NL.

It is funny how a lot of collectors have no issue with retailers holding their payment for months without dispatching the Steelbook yet have a tantrum when Zavvi haven't dispatched one day after the release date that falls on a bank holiday. If it is such a big deal, cancel your order, problem solved!
They definitely don't want to buy anything from BluFans then :) but still If Zavvi have sold anywhere near all of the Pirates, Frankenweenie and Avengers then that is a shed load to ship out on top of all their normal sales!

Perhaps that set of collectors you're referring to do NOT shop from retailers that hold their payment for months, unless you have specific examples :naughty:. AFAIK, the impatient folks that lament when Zavvi doesn't ship their stuff on the specific dates are pretty consistent when other retailers do the same, they're just not the patient types that's all.

That there is a big IF.

Don't you think though, if Zavvi had the stock in they'd be charging credit cards at £25 a pop and making themselves loads of money rather than running the risk of cancellations? If nothing else, we know they ship early whenever they can to avoid cancellations and get their money. In fact, ironically, the only titles that are constantly changing release dates and being shipped out late are Disney releases.

Honestly, I know Zavvi are little more than a whipping-boy, but seriously, sometimes logic seems to be forgotten in the rush to bash them.

I'm not so bothered about not getting it on said release date to be honest. I'm only bothered about them taking the money for it so I know where I am budget wise for the month.

I'd say the biggest difference is that even though many are disgruntled with the Asian GB delays, there is usually a reason given for the delay in detail. IMO people need to be informed rather than grasp at different possible reasons. A tweet or posting on Facebook or other social media hub would suffice.

the only reason asian retailers keep your money for months is because you pay with paypal, right. so you preorder and pay at the same time. people know they are paying months in advance, so its nothing to moan about. if people pay with paypal with zavvi, it would be the same, right? i guess most people dont use paypal with zavvi preorders because they dont have to. im sure if people had to pay when they pre-ordered with zavvi, zavvi would receive a lot less pre-orders.

plus with asian retails, what you are buying into is practically an event. people are patient because they know they are getting something 'special,' actually desirable. these are small retailers so people are understanding when things dont run like clockwork. most importantly though, the retailers make sure their customers know exactly what is going on. they go above and beyond. i mean, it astounds me that plain archive is just two people. zavvi on the other hand are a typical large retailer, they seem to churn out steelbooks like they are on a conveyor-belt, and have little to no regard when it comes to keeping customers informed. people expect more when they know they are dealing with a company with hundreds of employees.

I don't recall Blufans giving a reason for every delay.

It would be great but ultimately it doesn't really matter. If Zavvi did give a reason for the delay many here would probably dismiss it as a lie anyway and it wouldn't make the Steelbook arrive any faster.

It doesn't really matter. The point is that a lot of collectors have no issue with seemingly endless delays with some retailers but can't wait a few days for Zavvi to get things in order. I think that is simply hypocrisy.

You're probably right based on history. To be honest though, you would think a company like Zavvi with their huge presence in the steelbook market would have a designated PR team to deal with these issues. There are so many avenues to connect with their customers yet they chose none of them. It has been mentioned that PA with far fewer staff, do a excellent job keeping their fans updated accordingly via Facebook. Seems that in this day and age, just a little courtesy goes a long way. By not understanding their customer base needs, they foster this negative attitude towards them.

Well for myself personally this sucks.
Keeping my hobbies to particular budgets meant I had to cancel this when it moved to April.
If it is again in May or indeed June then that would be ok, but hold on I had to cancel.

Really really had enough of Zavvi, from the Disney Classic farce last November December I vowed never to buy from them again unless there was no other choice. Feel stronger about that now. They are taking some of the joy of collecting steels away
