F**k it. You introduced me to new music and 2 ninjas found out they were at the exact same gig 15 years ago for one of the greatest bands in the world years before they were members here. Far from nonsense. Pretty fukin cool. And you’ve possibly inhaled my joint smoke fyi

Someone should tell them this trick can work for any type of film, not just horror.
absolutely. it always comes back to the writing - do i care about / what happens to these characters?

although the outlays are much more significant and the returns aren't anywhere as high as the horror films, here's some sci-fi examples that show a good script and engaged actors can make all the box office difference against a low budget:

Monsters (2010)
Budget: $500,000
Box Office: £4.2 million

Primer (2004)
Budget: $7,000
Box Office: $545,000

The Terminator (1984)
Budget: $6.4 million
Box Office: $78.3 million (original run)

District 9 (2009)
Budget: $30 million
Box Office: $210.8 million

Chronicle (2012)
Budget: $12 million
Box Office: $126.6 million
