Andrei Tarkovsky (1932–1986) is widely regarded as one of the most important and influential filmmakers in the history of cinema. His films are both deeply personal and poetic, exploring themes such as memory, spirituality, time, and the human condition.
Although his career produced only seven feature films, each one left an indelible mark on cinema as a whole. Tarkovsky’s work profoundly influenced generations of directors, including Ingmar Bergman, Lars von Trier, Terrence Malick, Christopher Nolan, and Denis Villeneuve. His films stand apart for their philosophical depth, their spiritual undertones, and transcendental nature.
