Cool to know. Weird how there's the option for PS5 for both Fable and Halo but no PS5 link for Gears E-Day

Happy Expression GIF

That's because E-Day is a console exclusive :wtf:

While I do disagree to some extent with exclusivity, I think overall competition is good for the market. We wouldn't want a single console monopolizing the gaming market. Asha Sharma seems to be set on reviving Xbox Gaming.

I think it's good for Xbox users, but I do wonder how long it'll last. Releases like Forza Horizon 5 have done extremely well on PS5 and that's a fair bit of money that Microsoft will be leaving on the table if they're switching course again (and it's not just potential, they have actual figures to show for it now that they made that move). I'm sure it'll bring back Game Pass subscribers which will help, but the price drop means less money coming in per user and that model just isn't making enough money to be sustainable in the long run, and was never going to really when you're comparing it to the potential figures they could be looking at at selling each of the titles going onto GP day one at full price instead.

How much more hardware will this really encourage players to buy, especially when it can all be gotten on PC alongside Steam? I feel like things might look up for a few years on paper but they'll come back to the same point once again and realise that it's probably not going to work this way.

Xbox will move back to all platforms again. I've not doubt a in my mind about it.

That 69 billion for Activision Blizzard and 7.8 billion for Zenimax, well, they won't pay for themselves.

Problem is it is hard to prove because we do not have the individual figures that show how many users and how much revenue exclusivity alone has brought in. But historically, if you look back at 2021-2024 when Forza, Halo, and Starfield were exclusive, revenue for Microsoft's gaming division has grown. It cannot be directly correlated because those figures are not published. Is it because it adopted more users? Hard to tell, as Microsoft doesn't publish user count figures regularly either.

But from a competitive point of view, I believe exclusivity does help to some extent. Pretty sure Nintendo hardware sales would drastically fall if it released Pokemon and Zelda on other platforms. I don't see why that wouldn't be the case with other platforms as well. Ideally, timed exclusives are maybe the best of both worlds, pulling in eager players that want access to day one releases, and then capitalizing on additional revenue by selling on cross-platforms at a later date.
