It's beyond me how people are still comparing the newer release steelbook prices to how they used to be years ago.

Case in point is the Play Iron man, the steelbook game was nowhere near as popular then so prices were bound to be lower. Not to mention inflation since then etc.

The way I see it, if people actually wanted this they'd cough up the cash. If they don't then stop bitching about it.

Who knows, this zbox might actually be decent

It could have a perfectly accurate cast of the Black Widows chebs in it and this forum would hate it. Did you not get the memo? You're not allowed to be optimistic about anything on this forum unless it's BF, FA or any other Asian releases.

That's because there's a perceived quality to those releases which the Z-box doesn't have. People who buy them want the artcards, lenticular slips and associated items. No one knows what the Z-box has to offer, but, let's be honest it's probably nothing you want. Most, if not all of it, will be unrelated to Iron Man.

The Asian releases are always more limited too, which gives many collectors the feeling that they have something rare. Of course the only people other than the collector themselves that are likely to care are other collectors. There's also the belief (sometimes true, other times not), that those steelbook releases are better quality.

Personally, I only care about the steelbook itself. Not J-cards, artcards, lenticulars or bonus key-rings. As such, no BF, Kimichi or otherwise release appeals to me unless the steelbook is perfect. That said, I'm price-conscience too, so won't generally pay those prices. I don't agree with Zavvi bundling Iron Man with a Z-box, and have every feeling it'll be available separately later on (probably at £25). Not that I'll buy it as I'm happy with Play's version. Sure, it wasn't perfect, but it was cheap and as I only see the spines most of the time I'm not that bothered.

10.99 brand new MCU steels are a thing of the past. Get over it.

If you're a collector then paying what's needed to get something you want isn't an issue. I've paid through the nose for some steels and managed to get a lot of release and save my self a lot of money.

Who knows if this release will become sought after, my guessing is yes somewhere down the road. The only difference is, I paid £40 (with a zbox) and not £40+ without one.

As for the zbox, well who knows what's gonna be in it. I for one collect funkos and that's most likely gonna be one of the items. The retail between £9-£15 so let's just call it a £10 funko, with that and a steel which would likely retail at £20-£25 anyway, I've pretty much got my £40 worth there and that is not including anything else that's in there

I think zavvi missed a trick here, they should have made the zbox the iron man zbox, including an iron man pop and t shirt with the other things in the box being iron man (only) stuff. That would have made much more sense as they have insisted on this steelbook not being sold seperatly at least that would have slightly improved this situation.

I think that's really where they went wrong.

At the very least an Avengers Z-box. If they didn't want to say exactly what you'd get, but often these Z-box's contain similar things then surely they'd have been better doing...

'Order your exclusive Marvel Z-box containing a Zavvi exclusive Iron Man steelbook, an Avengers movie Pop Vinyl, an exclusive T-shirt featuring one of your favourite Marvel characters and much, much more.'

Still, what do I know?

LMAO, hardly as there are members here who go out of their way to criticize Asian releases every day. Different strokes for different folks.

Yep, studios see no benefit at bargain pricing popular franchise collectibles-especially with increase of Steelbook collector market for many, many years now.

Ah, nostalgia....I remember when this was all fields, and the good old days before the Internet when you had to leave the house and actually see people to have an argument with.. Kids these days don't know they're born...

As for the steelbook, it looks nice and all that but your not prising £40 out of my wallet for the privilege of owning one... Even if it might be 'worth' £40 in years to come...

I think it's a bit naive to believe that Zavvi will not be selling this separately. I doubt that Zavvi would produce an equal number of ZBOXs and Steelbooks, the ZBOX is probably limited to 1,000 copies or something like that with the Steelbook being twice as many at the very least. I imagine they are just seeing how many copies of the bundle they can shift before making the Steelbook available separately at a later date (there is already a separate listing, it only needs updating). The obvious time would be after the ZBOXs have shipped as others have suggested. It is Zavvi though, so it could be at any point from now until the end of time.

The Asian releases don't force you to buy a mystery box in order to jack up the price of what you actually want.

I love Zavvi steelbooks, they've been on an upward trend of releasing better quality steelbooks. But when they force you to buy something else to get what you want, that's where you get a backlash.

o

You're right, no one is taking £40 out of your bank account, in fact zavvi aren't asking anyone to pay £40. It's there for pre-order, if those who want it are interested then they will buy it.

Too many negative people slating the package deal and the pricing. I have no interest in half the terminator releases that are coming out everywhere nor am I interested in all the jurassic Park/world releases but I'm not gonna just chime in and moan about the price.

Something is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it, I suspect these will sell out so x amount of people think this is worth £40 as a package.

Besides, I may be fortunate enough to have the play version which cost me £100 sealed with Iron man 2 sealed about two years ago. I may be fortunate enough to be able to afford the £80 eBay inflated blu fans releases. But not everyone is so lucky and we all have to start somewhere and this is a good chance for someone who can't afford the over inflated prices.

I have a question, of us all here who have iron man from play, whether we bought it for £10.99 or not, how many of us would sell them for that much or lower than £40?
