Why do these Zboxes have to be a surprise? I'd feel better about dropping £39.99 if I knew what I was getting, especially when there is only one thing I really want, the steelbook. If I knew what additional items I was getting for the extra £15 and they were items I wanted, I'd gladly drop the £39.99. Fact is, no one knows, and it may have nothing to do with Iron Man at all.
Correct, but in all fairness, the "mystery box" contents not usually revealed in advance at all. Many subscribers to similar services from other companies with monthly boxes like that type of surprise. Items be be related to the logos on box, etc per site description.
Makes sense. I don't get mystery boxes in the world of collecting blu rays. But hey, more power to anyone who wants it.
Yeah, lots of collectors who live multiple franchises and collect a whole host of other things in our community...this is cool especially for those who hate "spoilers" in general, lol. Different strokes for different folks for sure.
The problem is with Zbox is customers don't all get the same items and don't know exactly what they are getting until delivery
They are different with some having something decent and others having cheap items
Its a lucky bag as to what you get apart from set items that will be the same in each box
Most of what's in these Zbox is cheap items with a few decent products they have yes improved compared to previous early Zbox releases but are still overall items you would not purchase on their own normally except those customers who would be interested in purchasing these items
I don't have any problems with Zavvi doing a package of a Zbox with a steelbook as long as you have the option to purchase the steelbook on its own and not end up having to pay lot more than you would just for a steelbook alone
Its not fair to customers to have to purchase a Zbox just to get a steelbook and is alienating their regular steelbook customers in my opinion

Most mystery boxes are used as a marketing tool to showcase different products but essentially related. From what I have seen so far, steelbooks are being used to push these boxes rather than being complementary to the other items in the box thus a lack of mass appeal to the z box thing. /whats the point of getting a z box i it has little or nothing to do with Iron Man?
Exactly. They are trying to capitalize on the fact that it is Marvel, Iron Man and Superhero, all things that sell well. If this was the first Iron Man steelbook released on blu ray though, the Zbox would be perceived a little differently and would be sold out on day one.
They probably can't do a sole iron man box, those are probably licensed for the new Marvel collector corps

So you pay £39.99 and they can't even be bothered to put the steelbook inside the zbox, man Zavvi have just gone too far this time
i think its a bluff. they will get the purchases off fans desperate enough to willingly buy this steel along with the zbox, when all the sales stop, they will then offer it stand alone.
i also think the previous steels offered with zboxes (such as bugs life and dredd) were test runs. they split the availability with those though, only offering the zbox when all the standalone steels were 'sold out.' the trial was obviously a success because steelbook collectors proved they were willing to buy a box of junk if it meant they could get the steel they wanted.
thanks, now they can confidently offer steels tied to zboxes as standard.
