I think the clue is in the description “unique art”, that’s doesn’t sound good.

I foresee the same Sean Connery pic as JB, wearing a smoking, and holding a gun, with different color background for each movie.
This will be "unique art". :naughty:

Hope we’ll get a gold background for Goldfinger. :D

Great work but sadly there seems to be a golden rule now. Amrays: great artwork, Steelbooks, total **** and charge the earth and you can bet right every one of your moke ups will be vastly superior to the crap that will be on offer.

It's definitely at that point now where the studios have caught on and now actually taking the absolute piss out of collectors.

Think about it, if they release an amaray with okay artwork and a steelbook with fantastic perfect artwork, the steelbook sell (like they always do) and the amaray won't do as good.
So they way studios now seem to be thinking is, let's release ****** artwork on the steelbook, fantastic artwork on the amaray because regardless the collectors will always buy the steelbook, and it now gives the amaray a far better chance of selling more with the great artwork.

I can't see any other reason as to why you'd go to lengths to put in orders for steelbooks, which materials are more pricey than amarays, only to put **** art on it. Has to be to boost amaray sales overall.

Steelbooks will always sell out even with **** art. Amarays will not (hence the better art to boost sales for them).

That's my personal take on it and I can't be that far away from it.

It’s funny because I’ve seen so many people on here over the years that know what’s going on, know artwork is getting worse while prices skyrocket, will slate the artwork gladly and then end off their comment with something along the lines of “…I’m going to get it anyway”

And thus the ever spinning cycle continues

If you don't enjoy this hobby like others do and pass on positivity, then literally **** off. That's my opinion.

Films are great. I'm buying for the UHD. If the steelbook is awesome, then that's a win. I'd rather a pig ugly steelbook than a waste of plastic to be honest, maybe that's just me.

Spread that nego bullshit elsewhere, is what I say. The world is hard enough as it is.

Let's show some insane love for the hobby instead.

Having said that there are some exceptions. My War of the Worlds 1953 and 2001 are beautiful steelbooks and the forthcoming A Knight's Tale looks superb... But yep most are rubbish. I have never forgotten the utter dire The Day the Earth Stood still blu-ray... It went beyond piss taking.....

I think you're overestimating things, I don't see a really nice steelbook hurting amaray sales and I doubt most studios have some cunning plan to foist bad steelbook designs on us, there's been plenty of really nice releases recently too. Most likely they're just trying to save a few pennies because that's more important to the accountants than a mere few thousands sales of a steelbook somewhere.

What I meany by crappy art designs, I'm on about for example, Constantine, Lethal Weapon, Blazing Saddles that type of art. Also not a plan, more like a mind set, why should we put effort into the steel when it'll sell anyway, and why should we put the same art on amaray and steel when we can possibly boost even more physical sales by putting the better art on the amaray.

But like I said, merely just my opinion and everyone's entitled to theirs :)

Lethal Weapon - current steel design is awful. Totally agree.

Blazing saddles - lacklustre

Constantine however is probably steel of the year so far for me, from major retailers. Perhaps Tarrantino Lionsgate steels beat it for some. Personally my mr no.1 though, and as a Collectors package especially.

Like you say, art is all subjective, but the effort was there with Constantine.

Oh cool, an as**hole who decided to go to a personal attack instead of being mature about it.

That's not negavitiy man, it's just how it is. If something is bad, and people can admit it's bad only to then say they are "going to buy it anyway" then why buy it? All it does is feed this cycle.

I feel like you going off like that, being immature and throwing a massive tantrum means I struck a nerve and you actually do this yourself.

Being a fan of something does not mean become a mindless drone and eat up whatever they give you. We are allowed opinions and for how expensive things have gotten we are allowed to ask for better.
