What in Furiosa's hairy merkin is going on here?

Fair enough mate... they're both really very nice steels. Different strokes for different folks but the Manta FS still just about winning for me... nothing to do with that's the one I own of courseI wasn't a fan of Mantas character pyramid on their Furiosa steel.
Fury Road has actually turned out incredible but nah Mantas Furiosa steel is miles better than this imo
We definitely got spoilt with Mad Max releases. I just am a little burnt out on character pyramids to be honest. What I did love about the Manta steel was depth of colour reproduction, the clarity of the image is so sharp and I also really liked where the title was positioned on the steel. It sat really nicely in that top third. Not often you see that on a steel. Working the rule of thirds to great aesthetic effect.
Might be just because it's new and shiny but I'm liking the Weet Furiosa more too.I wasn't a fan of Mantas character pyramid on their Furiosa steel.
Yeah, I really do not like WeET's furiosa steel or slips at all. The designs, I mean. The quality looks top, but both of those steel posters are awful imo. Manta's steel is miles better. Plus they've put cast and director credits on every front.. which sucks, and Manta didn't.
Manta's Furiosa DLA is still the best package for art imo. Their steel and the DLA front are the only decent posters for the film. I do like the front of weet's A1, but that's about it.
WeET's A1 for fury road is essentially perfect though. I can't see Manta topping that. Those are probably the 4 best posters for the film. My only gripe, which is nothing to do with the package at all, is that I've got the A1 front and the steel rear on my HDZ steel and DL already.

I became a Ninja after the end of the Ninja steelbook of the year awards... I wouldn't mind seeing that return as it's a nice gauge of how good a release was recieved that year. We all like the new & shiny now & again, & these conversations are fun to find out everyone's likes. We could theoretically be talking about two steelbooks of their respective years here, and for me at least, those threads are a nice way to recollect such editions along with other great editions that nearly made the cut.

Funny thing Is anyone here can open a thread with polls to do steelbook/ premium of the year. It was never an official thing. It’s just some voting on a forum. Did make me laugh to see that get mentioned in the what changes would you like thread when anyone can do it.
Ninjaweek is the thing that needs to come back. The reason it stopped was such a pathetic excuse because of Covid. But everyone jumped on that excuse bandwagon back then

Well I mean official to this site yeah but in the grand scheme of things who cared? It’s not GQ man of the year. Only retailer that acknowledged it was Manta

Wow you guys have been members here 3 and 4 years I did not realise how long it had been since the last Ninjaweek! When was all the lockdowns? 2020? So the last ninja week was 7 years ago!!!!! Fuuuuuuucccccckkkkkkkkk!!!!
Basically the site came together for a week and did hundreds of giveaways. All types of giveaways. Some were games, some posting pics, some just likes or tagging a friend etc. Members and retailers etc would do giveaways for steelbooks, premiums, prints, collectors editions, figures, statues, gift cards, whatever you can think of. But it started to get really big and for a good 3ish years between maybe 2016-2018 it was insane with loads of retailers getting involved from zavvi to bottle neck gallery.
Think at its height zavvi was giving away like £250 prizes or gift cards.
But it was fun and made the place a lot more positive imo. But then covid hit. The excuse to stop it was Covid even though it’s an online thing with zero contact with anyone and it fizzled out, then the site started to die a little anyway so I can’t see it coming back or any of the retailers involved coming back. Nothing stopping any of us members doing giveaways tho. Used to be loads. But as I say the site started to die, people left or got banned and even the owner used to do stuff like this too but for some reason gives free sh!t to pointless annoying IG & YouTube influencers now so it is what it is LOL
Sounds great! I am sold. Maybe one way to bring Ninjaweek back is to make the steelbook of the year "official" and part of it. Give it some legitimacy on socials; to then encourage retailers to get involved in Ninjaweek comeback. E.g. if Zavvi put prizes in, we will have a category specific to Zavvi releases or/and a UK retailer release category. Speaking off the dome, so forgive me if logistics prevent such an idea. Now is probably the time though, as I've never seen so much physical media talk than in the last couple of weeks (mostly off the back of Amazon putting 4k behind a paywall) but that's just the latest thing in a long line of folks getting fed up with streaming. I'm seeing physical media posts regularly get millions of interactions, which was no where to be seen even earlier this year. The iron is hotter than it's been in some time, which is nice to see.

Great film Furiosa. In some ways preferred it to Fury Road even tho Fury Road is probably more thrilling. Plus that whole driving scene is insane. Cool driving scene in this one too. Tbh they are both incredible films. Even Hardy isn’t annoyingThese steels look amazing especialy mad max glad i opted for the one click on this one, and i kinda like this furiosa steelbook more then manta's not sure about the movie haven't seen it yet really hope i'm going to enjoy it
So mad the difference a great finish can do tho. I was happy with Mantas FS and steel for Furiosa.

Went from really not liking these beauty shots especially the steels and only into 1 or 2 slips so I skipped it. To adoring those 2 Full slips in the live pics, luckily both came back in stock and was able to order them together but still wasn’t feeling the steels especially Fury Road which that artwork I hate to them making it look awesome In shots with the finish and big ole title embossing. It could not have worked out better. I do think the manta Furiosa steel is better but it’s mad how I can go from hating something to loving something like that.
Can’t wait to get them in hand plus I’ve not seen FR in 4K yet so another reason I was waiting on Manta

That sounds pretty cool. I'd imagine it'd unfortunately be quite difficult to get retainers on board nowadays especially given the new influencer culture you mention. Forums have become very old-fashioned in the mind of most unfortunately. But I'd certainly be up for that and would like to throw something here and there into the ring for a giveaway if it helped get more people involved.
