A very tense, quality made homage that can stand on its own. Visually perfect, often disgustingly spooky, a couple of sudden jump scares with a literal ugly face, but otherwise I have no qualms.
Vampyr Orlok looks like a dirty old drunken Ukrainian peasant, or an angry deformed cossack. If you've seen an old Soviet era film Viy, you'll know.
It's kinda funny.
Willem Dafoe is the best here, while the main actress, whoever she is, is only befittingly sickly looking, otherwise I did not like her at all. Only now finding out Anya Taylor-Joy could've been in her place, which makes me even sadder.
