- The steelbook illustration is by Krzysztof Domaradzki.
- The artwork for the slipbox was used previously for the Oldboy vinyl LP. It was co-ordinated by Nicolas Winding Refn, the director of Drive, and illustrated by Laurent Durieux. The director of Oldboy Park Chan-wook wanted one of our editions to feature this artwork so we reached out to Milan Records and illustrator Laurent Durieux. You'll be able to see more of the artwork since parts of the top and bottom were cropped out for the vinyl LP.

You hafta make a stock allowance for all the dummy scalpers though; what do we think, a quarter of all buyers will buy two or three additional copies so they can make a gigantic (and so fulfilling knowing they've deprived a real movie buff!) $20 profit?

I think people are probably right and this will stick around for a little while though. Even longer in Korean stores as is usually the norm. Imagine the PET(?) Slip will go first. Even the Scanavo took a while to sell out of international stock... longer than most would have anticipated at least

On PA's Facebook page they've stated there will be no PET slip. Shame, hoping for some nice finishes but weren't PA's Tinker Tailor's a little underwhelming when it came to the finishes?.....

Sort of. The 1/4 slip was A+, as per usual for PA. Full slip A was a silver metallic board similar to Blu Collection's Whiplash/PA's ZDT fullslips and glossy. Full Slip B had raised sandpaper-like texturing on the text and the back image of Gary Oldman. Full Slip C was the only one that didn't have any extra touches to it for some reason.

The main problem for the fullslips was, obviously just imo, you had to make a choice between the dull coloration of A and B or the lack of finishing for C. At the very least the art here is pretty colorful with good contrast, so as long as they don't pull a Tinker Tailor Full Slip C....:ohno:

Seriously no pet sleeve?

So there won't be a purple PET which i can set aside my I Saw The Devil (RED) and ZDT (Green) ?

Such a shame. Especially since I Saw the Devil is a killer release, it would have complemented it.

Totally agree with you..was looking forward for that purple PET to match the green ZDT and red ISTD.. So what's your fave among the 3..hoping there's some special treatment for the slips..

The Purple one, no doubt. the pink i dislike the most. It doesn't connect to me and screams ''Oldboy''. I lose the connection with Oldboy and the artwork keeps me wondering which movie is this actually, and that aint a good thing.

Interestingly, the Pink is the director's choice. He specifically asked that they have one edition with that art.
So it obviously means something to him . . . . .

I think we can comfortably blame Nicolas Winding Refn for his role as executive producer on the re-issued soundtrack art. Park can share the blame for choosing to re-use it instead of allowing all those artists Plain brung in to fashion steelbook art and effectively nothing else new for any of the slipcovers. I mean technically one is new but it's so bland it might as well have been out there for years as the cover of HK bootleg DVD.

I guess my point is even our hero directors can have horrible taste* when it comes to our hobby: just look at Nic's choice for the Only God Forgives steel.:smuggrin:

* I don't actually think the first slip is horrible personally, I would have just preferred 3 entirely new option after all the waiting!
