Really can't see this one selling out, not at that price. Visually brilliant film but very poor in all other regards, you can pick this up for under £6 new in HMV. The art would need to be spectacular for this to even sell well at all.

Zavvi are also going too far in the amount of titles they are releasing in the next month or so, over saturation is beginning to kill this as a rare collectables hobby.

Over saturation and the rest. A whole new wave of future £6.99 contenders have appeared on Zavvi in the course of an hour. :OMG:

Nail and head dude. Apart from Dredd and American Psycho I'm not really jumping for joy over any of them and will gladly wait it out till they are at least half the price they want. I'd rather see them drop their release schedule by around 80% and make more exclusive packages with slips than just continuing to flood the market. They really are killing this is an exclusive collectables market with all these stock titles. Zavvi will make sales but the tide is turning and myself, @Noodles and others will no longer play their game, more will follow and in the end Zavvi will start to make far less money because people will wait till they either drop in price, or in the case of their so called "sold out" titles wait till they magically have more in stock at cheaper prices. That may not include Marvel titles but it seems to be everything else they release.

Im with you on that and cancelled a couple purley because they have annoyed me.
I told them they are killing the market and making it less fun at these prices and heavy release schedules

Its not really Zavvi who is responsible for all the amount of steelbook releases
All of the steelbook releases are Film Studio decisions and its them who decide to do a release and then make available on general release or as an exclusive to a retailer with some made available on general release in other countries
Steelbooks have become very popular and this is why you see the film studios bring out a steelbook with lot of new films and reason for lots of back catalogue films getting a steelbook release

Most of the Zavvi Steelbooks of back catalogue films get released in other countries also Germany/France and other countries this is the Film Studios who do these releases

It just happens that Zavvi have most of them through existing contract deal for exclusives or they agree to an exclusive offered to them outside of any existing deal
There are some were Zavvi said no to taking an exclusive and the film studios still went ahead on general release

The prices are depending on what the film studio decide for the dealer price and then what profit margin the retailer wants to make

They can still grow some balls and say to disney or other studios we'll hold on a month yeah. But it seems like these studios have zavvi in the palm of their hands

They would still get released with other retailer or other country especially if its Disney or Marvel

You not forced into buying any release its a choice and some will be happy to have that choice

You don't have to purchase every release that get a steelbook release its up to you to make a decision to purchase or not as while you may decide not to purchase there will be someone else who will decide to purchase

Majority of Steelbooks releases now get a release in other countries some at the same time or later

Its simple you decide to purchase or not and if you miss out because it sells out that's not the film studio or retailers fault

I pick and choose what steelbook release I must have the rest I decide at a later stage if I want or if I can afford a release or wait for a price drop

In the last 12 Months I spent €6,000 on online shopping with 70% been steelbooks

I don't purchase everyone. In fact you couldn't be more wrong! but I do with disney and marvel like most.
With the other 7 catalogue titles that have been annonced I won't even buy on a price drop! I'm only interested in cabin fever really and that will defo not sell out so I'll get at a later date cheaper anyway.

I really can't see them releasing these with another retailer if zavvi said hold on a sec. That's rubbish imo. I get it with other things or a new release but when zavvi have a pixar/disney collection 40+ steelbooks deep into the collection and they were offered wall-e and ratatouille and said yeah we will take wall.e but hold on a month or 2 for ratatouille then disney would not go to HMV or amazon and offer that one random film to them. Rubbish. I know what you did previously and I technically I know nothing about that side of things but disney wouldn't jeopardise what they have going with them for one release with another retailer. Oz is a bit different because it's not considered part of the disney collection to zavvi so they could go to HMV etc but they wouldn't with the pixar or disney classics

And I couldn't give a toss if all other steelbooks turn up in another country at some point. I've already got my disney collection from the UK. I don't double dip except the odd title. If they pop up in the us or Germany or France etc then good luck to the people in those countries or people in the UK who missed out. Won't bother me.
I only buy the odd release out of this country anyway. Like the DC steelbooks or a rarity the UK don't get.

The price has dropped to £16.99 on this one, pretty surprising considering the pricing on the recent Pixar titles.

That is odd but much more reasonable. Maybe trying to make up for the wall.e and ratatouille price lol
