It's really well made and the central antagonist is very creepy indeed.
Is this worth a blind buy?

10% off pre-order price with the code RWSPECIAL10 at Rarewaves. That's for UK customers.

Amazon UK some of the arrow 2026 4K UHD releases announced including this release not yet added to their website

I would suggest pre ordering from either Arrow/Zavvi/HMV if you are waiting to get listed on Amazon UK as stock might be limited or sold out by the time amazon UK list it

Order direct from Arrow as you build up points and you can get the odd disc free with those points. I'm managed a few titles without paying a penny.

Fair enough. Be interesting to see if the scenes I saw in the BBC transmission way back in 1979 will be in this edition.
Did you not read the release specs
Disc 1 Original TV mini series version
183 Minutes
  • Two viewing modes: Play as miniseries in two parts as per the original broadcast or as extended movie
Disc 2 Theatrical version
110 Minutes

There was a 200 minute version broadcast in USA on CBS but that extra time related to tv commercials and recap of first episode on second episode

BBC broadcast in 1979 did not have tv commercials but was shown in 2 parts
183 Minutes

You sometimes see 183 or 184 minutes mentioned but that’s just Pal/NTSC format differences

The Theatrical version 110 minutes sometimes mentioned as 112 minutes is edited removes significant character and plot development to reduce runtime but does have some r rated scenes of violence not shown on tv original broadcast version

There are a couple of scenes I saw in the BBC transmission I have never seen since in any version so It'll be an interesting watch for me.
