Almost 40 years since the Berlin Trilogy (LOW/HEROES/THE LODGER) and 68 year old David Bowie is crafting something COMPLETELY new again! People will puzzle over this new album and what it is. But it is like nothing else before it. And doubtless, following the trailblazer he is, expect people to copy it. I love that he is as experimental and uncommercial as he ever was, yet people pay attention. Who else can command that kind of respect when they go so far outside the mainstream zeitgeist?
* one sad note. This is depressing. But producer Tony Visconti said this track was originally much longer. But he and Bowie pared it down to 9:57 because iTunes won't accept and sell any track longer than 10:00.
Genuis thwarted by commerce?
