I am really sorry, we are aware of this issue with Empire Strikes Back and we have since raised this with our warehouse so we can investigate further. As soon as we have an update on this, we will be sure to get in touch and let you know.

Considering the scratches are underneath the shrink-wrap, I don't think it's a problem with their warehouse (for once!), but rather a problem at the manufacturing stage...
 
Loads of people on twitter complaining about the defect too with tons of photos. Really hope Zavvi actually do something about this
 
Have Zavvi ever issued mass replacements before? Like Weet did with IW last year for example? Or will everyone have to return their damaged copies first?

Not that I'm aware of, but happy to be corrected if anyone knows otherwise.

There was the issue with the Jaws booklet recently, but that was also the case for HMV and it was the distributor that arranged for the replacements to get sent out upon receipt of a proof of purchase (e.g. order confirmation email).

The only time I remember Zavvi sending out something to all customers was the disc that was missing from the wicker man years ago.

If anything is to come of this and they were to reprint then I’d assume they will just send out a replacement case otherwise they would have to sort all the discs out again. Maybe they would ask you to return the defected cases but it would be pointless and even more costly to them

It was StudioCanal that arranged the missing Wicker Man Disc be sent to all customers that pre ordered that steelbook
Customers did not need to contact Zavvi
Zavvi provided StudioCanal UK with customers address

It only applied to pre orders as the product description listing was updated after release date

and I’ve not mentioned anything about pre order or buying it after. That’s clear Paul and a given. And this is out of stock so it’s a different scenario in that sense entirely. No one can buy it at all now

The last time there were scratches on a Zavvi steelbook that I recall was Sleepy Hollow. And all they did was pull it and refund people if I remember correctly.

Nah wasn’t it that a bunch went missing in a lorry. Or half destroyed in a lorry that was in a crash or something. I was affected by that one. Still p!sses me off to this day they never got the damaged copies re printed

Zavvi sent an email to all customers who had pre ordered about the disc will be sent
I posted a copy of that email I got from Zavvi in the wicker man thread
It was sent in batches
Customers got delivery at different times
I did contact zavvi myself back then asking when will I get delivery
By doing that I ended up getting the replacement disc sent twice :rofl:

StudioCanal had already shipped my replacement before I contacted Zavvi without me knowing
I got delivery 2 days later it had shipping date on parcel before I contacted Zavvi
By contacting Zavvi askng where is my disc that resulted in me get a second replacement disc a few weeks later from StudioCanal :LOL:
