I actually like the symbolism behind the steelbook. The color palette and artwork is similar to medieval Christian iconography and manuscripts, with a darker twist. You have a lot of themes present in the artwork, from purity (the white lily), defiance of death (stepping on the skull), eternal life (chalice of blood), divinity (red-blood halos). The front seems to be vampire lord being worshiped and offered blood (In exchange of salvation? Or fear?), while the back could have a meaning in either defeating of evil (Reminds me of Saint George and the Dragon) or could have a deeper meaning where the knight on the back is holding the blade with it's left hand, almost as in cutting it's hand deliberately to feed the beast within (The dragon). The game itself is about the duality of human/vampire so it could have a symbolic meaning in this regard where Coen is trying to find a balance between his humanity by feeding his vampiric self just enough to not lose his humanity.
