Looks neat although for the price I would have expected something a little more...I don't know, better packaged I guess. Like it looks like something that would easily get damaged taking stuff from it and when for such a high price you want it to be a little more durable.
The Hitchcock: The Ultimate Filmmaker Collection edition with the reel tins was something they should have gone for, it was a great edition and at the time a decent price.

i have the Blu Ray book with the slip that has 9 movies, starting with Spartacus (1960) very nice set. missing the 4 films from the 50s. the shorts are all on YouTube. to pick up the 4 1950s films would not cost me 500 lol.

Not a fan of the way discs are stored in editions like these.
The amount of discs seems excessive although I get that they have to cater to everyone with 4K/non 4K set ups. Depending on viewers set ups, however, a lot of the discs will simply be redundant. In an ideal world, separate releases for a standard
blu- ray edition and a 4k edition with the blu-ray extras discs would be better to reduce the amount of discs, bringing the price down.
I'm assuming Criterion aren't remastering the movies already available in 4K? They should definitely be left as they already are, especially 2001: a space odyssey.
It'll be interesting to see if the UK gets this as importing it would make the extras inaccessible due to Criterion blu-ray discs being region A locked.
On a personal note, I've never seen any Kubrick prior to Dr Strangelove so not sure how much of the earlier content would appeal to me, never watched Barry Lyndon but feel like I should have seen it by now and on the fence regarding Eyes wide shut.

Yes it's a sturdy box, it mimics the boxes that Kubrick used in his personal archive, pretty cool!
To be honest, the only Kubrick movies I've ever been bothered about are 2001/Clockwork orange/The shining/Full metal jacket so on the fence if this ever gets a UK release. That being said, I consider them to be absolute classics so maybe this set would appeal to me more than I realise if the extras are worth seeing.

Personally I think it's up there with his best and definitely a Top 5 Kubrick for me. Amazing really considering it was very early on.
