Fifth Element'wize this is the release to beat. I doubt it will ever happen due to the classy slip designs with amazing finishes and the steel which comes from an era where Kimchi were on the "quality releases killin' spree"

I very hesitantly bought it at the time, just cause I got the other 2, and thought what the hell, maybe someone will need it later. It's the ugliest for me, Milla looks 'mentally challenged', and as if from a bad porno at the same time.
The other Fullslip, with Zorg and Korben, is the best.

Quick question about the technical side of things... This and Leon coming from a partnership with Gaumont, I guess these releases will include the StudioCanal 4k discs? Especially for Fifth Element I would prefer it to be the Sony release, as I find it has the way superior color grade, and I don't own a steelbook for that Sony release yet (and really don't want to hunt down this horrid poop art Sony steelbook). Would be nice to have the new Zavvi release and this one to include the two different 4k discs (giving me a reason to own both ).

Same goes for Leon in terms of color grade, but here at least I already own decent steels for both releases.

Neither will be the Sony releases. A gaumont partnership will almost definitely mean studiocanal discs. You're entitled to your opinion of course, but the SC 4K transfer of Fifth Element is quite noticeably better than Sony's.

I believe their transfer of Leon is also, but not to the same degree. It's mostly marginal gains due to the DV grade, but that comes with the potential downside of no theatrical cut, if that's your preference.

That's the funny thing with sharpening, it's often misconstrued as actually being a sharper picture, which is the case here with the sony vs SC. The sony may appear sharper, but it's artificial.

It was the clipped whites that did it for me, which is surprising how much detail is lost there on the sony when comparing the two. I did find the SC colour grade more vibrant too, notably so.
