I completely agree. It's more the addictive nature of nostalgia that pulls me back to some of Van Dammes movies. Let's face it, it's not because they're deep. The entertainment is purely nostalgic for me with the likes of TimeCop, A.W.O.L (Lionheart), Kickboxer, Hard Target, Nowhere to Run and Universal Soldier all being movies my mum & sister would rent me from the local VHS store when I was off school ill.
Twas even before the days of Blockbuster in the UK. In fact, my local rental shop still had Betamax tapes on their shelf until well into the 90s.
Same goes with those late 80s Jackie Chan action movies. Schlocky but fun.
I re watched Bloodsport a while ago and it was unintentionally hilarious in some parts. That's not held up terribly well against some of the others.
They’re certainly of their time. I’m being unfairly harsh of course and yes nostalgia is a powerful thing.

What's your source this is getting a SteelBook release ?
OP updated to list possible as it has not been confirmed at the moment if this is getting a SteelBook release.

So far the only scream factory info that got leaked is it's getting a 4K Amaray Slipcover release.

I don’t think any of these films are as good as we like to remember. Maximum blood death hard….. come on. Sounds like the adult channel.
bloodsport is one of my favorites... i watch this movie at least once every year.

hard target is a great action movie

double impact / inferno / nowhere to run are nice brain off movies after a long and stressful working day

sudden death is one of the best "die hard" rip-offs... like it
