What is the difference between G1 and G2 Steelbooks?

i hear it all the time, but can never find explanation.

Sure - a G1 steelbook is the first generation of the steelbooks, meaning DVD sized.

A G2 steelbook is the second generation of the steelbooks, meaning it's blu-ray sized.

Hi Barry,

"G1" refers to "Generation 1", meaning a "DVD-sized" case. "G2", is "Generation 2" is a Blu-Ray sized case.

thanks for the help guys!! looks like all of mine are G2 :)

i recently bought blank Plain silver Steelbooks for some blu rays, but unfortunately, they are G1 sized.
