Hey all,

Use this thread to chat about all things steelbook. Chat away ...

In an undetermined amount of time (when I need to submit GB addresses) I will then conduct the giveaway via random.org using the Post #s in this thread.

Your entries could be 1 (if you post 1 time) or 100 if you post 100 times.

At that time, I will figure out who wins the free DL TDK Blufans Edition. If you already bought the DL, you will get yours for free as I will refund you. ;)

I will host the giveaway LIVE on my IG by rolling the virtual dice first, if it lands on 5 then I will randomize the numbers 5 times and whatever # it lands on that post count # is the winner.

Have any of you ever passed on the steel of a movie you really loved? I beg for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, but hated the pop art so much I just couldn't pull the trigger. It would be awesome for someone like Manta to get ahold of that. Sadly we've only had that one offering.
For me it doesn't matter how much I love the movie if I don't love the steelbook I won't buy it. I love all the John Wick movies and I have a ton of steelbooks from different retailers but I refuse to buy that psychedelic looking steelbook from I think zavvi?

Re: Movie with most steelbooks.

Recounted the best I could, not having everything at hand, and the results are interesting - while I was right at saying The Fifth Element, it's not the only one I got most steelbooks of. There's at least 6 of them.
There's also 6 steels of the original Blade Runner, 5 of The Matrix, 5 of the first John Wick, and at least 5 of Terminator 2, but... there also happens to be 6 of the original The Fast and the Furious steelbooks... figures.

Plus the one from the series with big FF letters on back and digits on the front, that FilmArena used, and the recent 20th Anniversary steelbook, both of which I haven't opened yet.

The only time I double dipped was for Parasite. Got 2 steelbooks for it. Felt so dumb at the time. Why tf would I ever pay for the same movie twice. But I've gotten to a point where I kinda understand

When my wife ask me that I tell her all the artworks are different so it's not the same. Lol

Added a couple of other releases to this collection.
Still waiting for a nice special edition from Arrow but nothing yet. One day.

LoL. And I do, but there have been more versions of The Thing to be had. A Japanese Jaws steel came down the line but I was not able to find a resource to ship it to me.
Use a shipping forwarder, usually they mail at least to US. That's how I got 24 series on BD.

Wow, you have more releases of this movie, than me, while most don't even have 1!

i am still waiting for a great Butch Cassidy... steel, or, failing that, maybe a Criterion - but they'll have to restore the film first. the middle 'pursuit' section is so dark on the night scenes you can almost not see what's happening on the existing releases.

I get my steelbook protectors from ebay. Never know which ones are needed so in the end I bought a few different variations to cover all bases then buy more when I come close to running out of one size.
Although I don't have one bug enough for the latest blufans Harry Potter so need to order something for that

I get my steelbook protectors from Amazon. Checked eBay but at the time Amazon was cheaper.

What has eluded me is the protectors where you slide in the steel from the side, like a plastic transparent slip.

Where do you guys buy your premium steelbook protectors from. And how the heck do you know which size to buy??

agree with @comICS-soon, the one i always use is Steelbook Central. check out the options under 'Steelbook Protectors.' they have exact sizes in mm, and also recommendations as to which premiums they fit. and they create new protectors when the premium retailers create yet another new size. they do run out of stock sometimes, but they always re-stock.
