Hopefully it's not the start of a price hike going forward...
It's killing me. Because their lentis are REALLY good. If they were just so-so, it would be easier to pass.
Plus- their lentis always get announced AFTER there has been a 4K edition released elsewhere. Which is really annoying.
(Case in point- i JUST got the Lionsgate steelbook for 1408)

Diving straight into the first announcement of a new release/re-release has become a dodgy practice as it now seems inevitable that other releases will be announced(often better)further down the line. It's a tricky one, as we don't want to miss out and dive straight in as we assume that we are buying 'the one', only to be presented with better editions afterwards...

Yes. The art of collecting remains a tricky mousetrap. Example: some people regretting jumping on Shout editions of the Golden Princess films - not knowing that Arrow would be doing them later with better packaging. And then- The Arrow/Shout buyer regretting that later Imprint would release the same movies with steelbooks!

Oh this is a millions times better. For starters that Lionsgate steelbook art is a cartoon drawing. The Imprint is actual key art from the promotional posters.
I actually like the Lionsgate art and personally don't want art that is the same as literally every other edition (German releases excluded). Using this artwork at that price feels lazy and low effort. But to each their own.

You've got that exactly backwards. The reason they do cartoon artwork on Lionsgate stuff is so that they don't have to PAY for assets. They are being CHEAP.
