I wonder what you mean by better? This is a deeply beautiful and emotional movie, unbelievable acting (Oscar nomination for a basically unknown at the time in Paul Mescal) and the whole package is just stunning. Super limited edition and amazing presentation. I'm really wondering sometimes what people are expecting. I understand Aftersun is not everybody's cup of tea, but it perfectly fits with Plain Archives releases, doesn't it? I hope Florida Project is next and if I had a say, they should tackle "I'm still here" and "The secret agent" as well...

I'm glad it has sold out now after about 10 minutes. I wonder if they pull a WeEt and increase the print run to 7500 now

You really didn’t need to go into all that sh!t about the film when I’m clearly not talking about the film itself nor have I complained about the film In this thread.

Im still waiting on Florida Project and World War Z but instead they fast tracked this out of nowhere when we’ve been waiting 5/6 years for the other 2. Actually longer for WWZ.
I even think the A24 Digipak is better than this. Not to mention I’m not happy with you have to buy the expensive edition. That’s the only choice and some of the extras are so pointless like the turkey magnet and wrist band.

Also Plain Archive are not the same as they used to be imo. What they’ve pushed on their site the past few years compared to when I started collecting with them are just so different that i want a return to form but all they care about nowadays are scripts. I want that class back and this imagery used isn’t it for me. The film is up their street but I feel they’ve failed me. I feel the same way about Nova too and the sh!t they put out nowadays. If they could they’d re release John wick films each year but they can’t.

That an okay opinion for you? Am I allowed that? You went on tangent about something I wasn’t on about but it’s cool, I forgive you for jumping to conclusions

To be fair I was a little underwhelmed when the price was revealed as I thought it seemed hefty, but at that stage I thought it was essentially just the Korean screenplay, the steelbook and slipbox. But it seems like there are a lot of nice physical extras in it which I didn't expect. If I knew that beforehand I would have gone back to planning to buy it but alas it was too late for me on a week where money is too tight.

Agreed. Here's what bothers me about this edition: The movie is a deeply contemplative reflection on memory and relationships and what it's like to grow up and fall short of your original ideals. Turning that story into a box full of gimmicky souvenirs seems like it misses the point. The movie is not really about the vacation; there's more to it than that. I can't imagine introducing someone to Aftersun, and then, after it finishes, I say, "Hey, check it out—this is Sophie's bracelet from the resort!" or "Look at this cardboard MiniDV camera. Remember how they were using a MiniDV camera in the movie?" That's not the conversation I'd want to have. The scene where they choose the rug (and then you see the rug in the hotel room later) is poignant; and now I'm resting my coffee mug on a miniature version of it? What are we doing here?

Just wondering as 31 minutes notice email is ridiculous. I’m not on social media other than facebook but I’m all lost when I go there so I avoid it when I contacted Plain Archive to know about “The Florida Project” recently, they told me to follow them on instagram but I am not on there. So I only rely on email notifications. I can’t miss “The Florida Project” cause I’ll cry like a little Girl if the email notification is sent only 30 minutes before going live

It was known a week(?) before the date and time they'd launch pre-orders, can't recall where that info came from but it wasn't a suprise when this went up.

I also received that email only a few minutes before it went live. If you don't have social media, I think the best thing to do is keeping watch of these threads where we share intel, because indeed, it was known since about a week that pre-orders would start today.

It was confusing. There were a couple of preorder dates mentioned here last week. Adding to the confusion is that I don't think Plain's website said anything about the release, not even a page for it, until it went live. Like you, I'm not on any social media, so I only knew about the release from the info here.
